Lt. Edwin E. Hollon joined Army Air
Force, July 1942. Sailed for England, October, 1943. Took part in
the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, Southern France and Holland.
Died in France, November 26, 1944 of burns received in plane crash,
while hauling supplies from England to France.
Lt. Edwin E. Hollon was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Hollon.

Lt. Edwin Earl Hollon was
born 5 April 1921 at Klondike, Delta County, Texas.
At the time of his death, Lt. Edwin Earl Hollon
was survived by his widow, Ruth (Dunn) Hollon (now deceased). They
married 16 May 1943 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Also surviving
was his young 5-month-old son, Edwin Earl Hollon, Jr.

Prior to his military service, Edwin Earl Hollon attended
the University of Texas with an interest in engineering. He took private
flying lessons, as well as official flight training at Randolph Field
in San Antonio, TX.
After the war, Lt. Edwin Earl Hollon's remains were repatriated
in January of 1949 at
Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (Section
R, Site 178), San Antonio, TX.
