Welcome

Culberson County, Texas
Culberson County was created from land in western El Paso County in 1911 so records prior to that will be found in El Paso County. Culberson County is in far west Texas and, although it doesn't share a border with Mexico, it's southwestern corner is only about 5 miles from the Rio Grande. The county seat and only incorporated town is Van Horn in the southwest at the intersection of I-10 and US-90. Our northern county line is 10 miles south of Carlsbad Caverns National Park in Eddy County, New Mexico, and the southern end of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park is in the northwest corner of Culberson County, including Guadalupe Peak, which, at 8,751 ft, is the highest point in Texas.
