My aunt sent me
this picture today.....do you recognize
the school in the
back...could it be the old Fischer Store
School? We
think some great aunts and uncles are in
the picture....if
they are then there are probably plenty
of cousins in there also.
My aunt is Willie Ruth (Heun)
Hoffman....she went to school
all her life in Paint Rock but her
mother Zillah Ada (Wilkerson)
Heun went to Fischer Store along with
her siblings, Solon, Allie,
Frank, Danie, Dewey and Mary
Wilkerson.

The old school at Fischer Store burned during a very
cold snap in 1947. The present building was soon
built, I know sometime before 1951 when Alton taught
first grade there to me and 5 others.

and came back yesterday.
Yes, in January of 1940, the Fischer schoolhouse burned due to a faulty flue.
The current rock building was finished in time for the September term. It cost about $1700.
Please let me know if you need any more information on the school.
Two years ago I received the same picture from Bryan Weidner labeled
"Early Fischer School". Bryan probably knows the names of the students, etc.
