B. K. Mallan to Construct Modern Swimming Pool on Nearby Ranch
Don't
look now, folks, but Coleman is going to have a new and thorougly
modern swimming pool. B. K. Mallan, civic minded rancher,
announced Tuesday that work would begin immediately on the constuction
of a pool at this ranch, two miles west of Coleman. The pool when
completed will be one of the finest to be found in this section, and
will be opened on a public fee basis.
The announcement is hailed with
enthusiastic acclaim by the people of Coleman, who long have been
awakened to the dire need for such a facility. At the present
there is no place available for swimming parties except in private
pools along the creeks.
Dimensions of the pool will be 40 by 80 feet, with adequate bath house
facilities and conforming to all standards outlined by the State Depart
of Health. Deep well water will be used to fill the pool,
according to Mr. Mallan, and a chlorine plant will be installed to
insure pure water at all times. Pumps and pipe high on the list
of present hard to find items appear to give cause for most worry on
the part of Mr. Mallan, but the genial rancher declares he'll find them
somewhere. It is believed the pool will be ready no later than
Labor Day. It will be located on the side of a hill and will
provide a beautiful scenic setting.
Felicitations to our friend B. K. Mallan, who this week announced his
plans for doing something for the youth of Coleman - building a modern
swimming pool with all necessary facilities, at the Mallan Ranch, two
miles west of Coleman. It all started when the Mallan family made
plans for a small private pool. Investigation proved that the
small pool would be subject to as rigid health rules as the largest
public pool. Mindful of the great need for a swimming pool in
which the young - and older folk, too - might enjoy the water sport,
Mr. and Mrs. Mallan decided to go to the expense of building a pool for
publice use. H. L. Markland, sand and gravel emprasario of the
Sant Anna Mountain, was called into consultation and plans were
developed and drawn for the project. It definitely will be built,
Mallan declared Tuesday, and he is now on the trail of necessary pumps
and pipe to care for the water which will be available from deep wells
on his property.
The admission charge will be negligible, and B. K. will be a long time
- probably not ever - in realizing his investment ... but he will have
the satisfaction of providing a badly needed facility for the growing
youth of Coleman.
