517 Vale Street
Coleman, Texas

Legal Description:

(Note from Ralph Terry:  Somewhere along the way, it appears that the address of 517 Vale Street (in Block 43 on the Phillips Addition to the Coleman Townsite) and 520 Vale Street (in Block 44 on the Phillips Addition to the Coleman Townsite) have become reversed.  Accounting to Coleman County Tax Office records, 517 is located on the east side of Vale Street and 520 is located on the west side of the street.  This is opposite of the 1948 map and contrary to street numbering practises in Coleman.)

On the 1930 map and before, a vacant lot was located at what would become 517 Vale Street.

Between 1930 and and 1948, Geo D. Rhone Company built a raised brick wool and mohair warehouse about 250 feet from east to west.  It used steel trusses in the roof and had a concrete floor with loading docks at each end and five large doors on the north and south sides.  The location of the building was addressed at this time as 514 Vale Street and the lot to the north was addressed as 518 Vale Street.
