"In 1929, the J. E. Stevens
Company was located at 114 West Pecan Street and 111
West Live Oak Street (north and south sides of
the same block.). It was owned by W. J., T. L. and F. E. Stevens,
and offered complete home furnishers, Fada Radios, phonographs, General
Electric Refrigerators, hardware, farm implements, sheet metal workers,
plumbing, undertakers, ambulance service. Their telephone number
was 21. One of their employees was Robert Adkinson, a tinner, with
no residence address.
"Also located at this
address was the office of the Coleman Office Company (Inc.).
B. C. Howell was the president and T. L. Stevens was the secretary - treasurer,
owners and operators of the Coleman Office Building."

south side contained housewares, furniture, carpet, gift items, and similar
items.
The exterior of the building had been painted to look more in the style
of 1889, when the store was founded in Coleman. |
