In 1923, a one-story dwelling was located on the northeast corner of this block, being addressed as 107 Nueces Street.  This house was removed before 1927 and one house built at what became 200 South Nueces Street on the north half of this lot, and a second brick home built at what became 204 South Nueces Street.



"Charles Paddleford, youngest son of D. A. Paddleford, born October 21, 1900, was a popular life long member of the communtiy having served as a volunteer fireman all his life.  He served in the infantry during World War I in Haiti and continued to be a member of the National Guard.  He inherited the implement business from his father which he operated until World War II, after which he was a building contractor.  From his marriage to Bess Brown of Mason, September 9, 1927, they had two daughters, Sallie Jo (Mrs. S. McGuinn) and Margaret (Mrs. Roy Bell).  In 1941, he married Doris Meador who lives at the home at 200 South Nueces, which was built {about 1927} by Davis A. "In 1929, Charles Paddleford, and his wife Bess, were residing at 200 South Nueces Street.  Their telephone number was 324.  He was the owner of Paddleford and Son.  Bess Paddleford was the superintendent of nurses at the Overall Memorial Hospital."  (Coleman City Directory, 1929 - Hudspeth.)
