A cotton gin was built, at the address that would become 203 East College Avenue, possibly built by W. L. Rose, between 1888 and 1893.

The cotton gin, identified as the W. L. Rose and Company Cotton Gin had expanded somewhat by 1898.

In 1923, the J. S. Rogers Cotton Gin was located at what became 203 East Live Oak Street and later 201 East Live Oak Street. 


"In 1929, The Adams Oil Company, Inc., was located at 203 East Live Oak Street, which was on the corner of Colorado Street. Vernon Adams was the president and manager of Adams Oil Company, which dealt in wholesale and retail gasoline and oils.  The business telephone number was 644."  (Coleman City Directory, 1929 - Hudspeth.)

(Note:  By the 1980's, this address appears to have changed to 201 East Live Oak Street.)
