Fire Destroys Paul
Wheat's Home

The Coleman Fire Department was
called around 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning to the Paul Wheat residence at 700
High Road in Coleman. Firemen arrived to find flames venting through the roof of
the house. According to Gary Payne with the department, the fire apparently
started in the attic and quickly spread. The roof of the home caved in leaving
the walls standing. Paul was not at home at the time but did arrive at the scene
later and is okay. We give credit to the Coleman Fire Department for an amazing
job containing the fire to just one house with wind in excess of 40 mph. Several
homes in the area turned on sprinkler systems in their yards to wet the grass to
hopefully prevent a spark from starting another fire.
