Lane And Wilson Buy Interest In Wilson Grain Co.
A change in ownership of one of Coleman’s oldest business firms took
place last weekend when Caskey Livingston sold his half-interest in the
Wilson Grain Co. to Scotty Lane and Glen Wilson, both of Coleman.
Effective last Friday, the two young men purchased equal one-quarter interests
in the business from Livingston and have assumed operation of the business
along with half-owner, W. W. (Pete) Skelton of the Gouldbusk area.
Lane has been with the Wilson firm since his graduation from Talpa Centennial
High School in 1960. Wilson is presently an employee of the Post
Office here and at this time plans to continue in that capacity, and work
in his off-time at the grain company.
The business was established in Coleman in 1919 by the late Charles
Wilson and his father, Bird Wilson. Following Charles Wilson’s death,
Livingston purchased a share of the business in 1952 along with two other
partners. Livingston’s father-in-law, R. H. (Bob) Whitaker, bought
out the other two partners in 1957 and he and Livingston operated the business
until 1967 when Whitaker sold his share of the business to Skelton, and
retired here.
Livingston states that he has no definite plans for the future at this
time, but that he plans to remain in Coleman. He served on the hool
board for ten years and is a past president of the Kiwanis Club.
