traced through the land abstracts, as provided by Marian L. Johnson, 2005:
Clow sold to Beakley, 1893.
(Note: The 1923 map shows a vacant lot at this location, so the filling station and grocery store was built after the 1923 division of property.)
"In 1925, Arthur Mitchell bough the filling station and grocery store from Ben F. Cox located on South Commercial Avenue in Coleman. He operated the business until January 27, 1927 when he was shot and killed in an attempted robbery. The robber was caught, tried and convicted of first degree murder and was electrocuted in Huntsville, June 20, 1929. Maggie (Arthur's wife) operated the store for a short time before moving to Sweetwater with Josephine (her daughter) to live with her daughter, Lucille Buck."
