500 South Commercial Avenue
Coleman, Texas

Legal Description:

Before 1909, no maps show this part of Coleman -
possibly nothing had been built at this location
prior to 1909.

Before 1909 a Skating Rink, which also served as an auditorium was built at what would become 500 South Commercial Avenue.

Between 1916 and 1923 the old Skating Rink was torn down and a new dwelling built at 500 South Commercial Avenue.

This dwelling was apparently built as a frame house, but by 1930 had been bricked.  It changed little after that time.

"In 1929, William N. McCulloch, and his wife Myrtle G., were residing at 500 South Commercial Avenue.  Their telephone number was 328.  He was a active vice-president at First National Bank, and president of Standard Abstract Company."  (Coleman City Directory, 1929 - Hudspeth.)

I am not sure if the automobile ("A") to the southwest of this dwelling was part of this address or part ot 504 South Commercial Avenue.

"In 1962, Myrtle McCullough, widow of W. N. McCullough was residing at 500 South Commercial Avenue.  She owned this dwelling.  Her telephone number was 625-2748."  (Polk's - Coleman City Directory, 1962.)

The old McCulloch home was torn down in the 1990's.
