Morris Ranch School was located on the Morris Ranch in north central
Coleman County on the old road to Baird, north of the Jim Ned Creek.
It was also known as Honey Hill School, named after Honey Hill which was
just northeast of the school. It was apparently set up for the children
of the people that worked on the Morris Ranch. Janie Perkins (now
Morris), Perry Clevenger, and some of the Coffey’s were among those that
went to school there during the 1917 - 1918 term. This was probably
a sort of private school, as it is not found mentioned in any of the county
school or commissioner’s minutes. It was still in existence in 1922,
as it was located on a map of that time.
