Mr. William L. "Bill" James gave one acre of land for the Home Creek School, #5, which was built in the early 1890’s.  Henry Gulley helped haul the lumber to build the school.  A new school was built about 1903.  The first teachers were Miss Coma Bowen, W. C. Rickard, M. Arm, Mr. Hall, Miss Atchly and J. W. Pauley.

Trustees for the school year October 19, 1891 - April 28, 1892, were W. R. Farm, W. S. Walker and W. P. Cusenbary; teacher was W. C. Rickamd, and the students were: Igal Anderson, Asa M. Britton, Arthur and Luther Davis, Arthur and S. Edmison, John P., W. P. and Jas. Richard Farm, Thomas H. and Charles Hamilton, K. David Hargrove, John Jackson, Ezra W. and J. W. Moss, Thomas C. Miller, John S. Seat, Robert Templeton, A. Burr Thomason, Maud M. and Effie D. Ashley, Pearl W. and Rachel Davis, Mary E. Farm, Susan Pearl and Florence Gaines, Mary E. Hamilton, Pearl and Lula May Hartin, Icey M. and Mintie C. Jackson, Hattie James, Maud Moss, Tilitha and Laura J. Templeton, Eva Hargrove.

Trustees for school year September 5, 1892 - April 20, 1893 were W. R. Farm, W. S. Walker and T. P. Davis; teacher was Rickard, and the students were Igal and Marshall Anderson, Enoch and David Cox, Luther Davis, A. and S. Edmison, John P., W. P. and James R. Farm, D. Hargmove, Charles Hamilton, John Jackson, Tom C. and Emmitt Miller, Ezra W. and Joe W. Moss, John Walter Seat, Edgar Pauley, Robert and Luther Templeton, N. L. Tompkins, Maud M. and Effie D. Ashley, Belle Berryman, Dona Cox, Pearl Davis, Mary E. Farr, S. P. and F. E. Gaines, Pearl and May Hartin, Ruby Holmes, Eva Hargrove, Icey M. and Mertie C. Jackson, Maude Moss, May Seat, Tilitha and Laura
Templeton and Ella Thompkins.

Trustees for school year October 29, 1894 - April 5, 1895 were W. R. Farr, J. C. Pauley and W. T. Reese; teacher Rickard, students;
Earnest Ashley, W. R. Bushong, Enoch S. and Dave Cox, Arthur and Stoter Edmison; W. P. and Jas. R. Farm, Aaron and Floyd Hollinger, John Jackson, Thomas and Emmitt Miller, W. W. Parker, J. W. and Edgar Pauley, H. M. Redden, Sam A. Riley, Frank C. and Lester A. Thompson, L. Thompkins, Robert and Luther Templeton, W. H. Walker, M. M. and E. D. Ashley, Dana Cox, Jettie Edmison, M. E. Farm, S. P. and F. E. Gaines, Lucy Belle James, Tibitha Riley, Lou Nettie Redden, Ella Thompkins, T. and L. Templeton.

In the 1912 - 1913 school term, Emery Turner was the teacher; trustees were L. S. West, H. C. Gulley (who served on the board until the school consolidated with Valera in 1928) and Lan Forman.  Wood for heat was bought from A. B. Thomason, C. H. Douglas (both attended school here) and H. S. Thomason.

In 1913 - 14 the school term teacher was Emery Turner, trustees L. S. West, Edgar Pauley and H. C. Gulley. Scott and A. B. Thomason supplying wood.

In the 1914 - 15 school term, Miss Elinor Rutherford of Coleman was the teacher; trustees same as the previous year.  Enrollment was 37.  Scott and A. B. Thomason supplying wood.

J. T. and Louise Thompson now own the land where the Home Creek School was located.
