The railroad was built north from Coleman, and in the far northwest
corner of Coleman County, the townsite of Goldsboro was began and the townsite
company built the big schoolhouse up on the hill. We started that
term in a store building downtown until they could get the building finished.
Mr. Tucker was our first principal. Mr. Leslie, Mr. Henderson, Moner
Curry, Mr. Webb, Annie Mae Carter and Mr. Francis were the intermediate
teachers and Miss Myrtle Knowles, Jane Caton, and Freda Beeson were the
primary teachers. Goldsboro consolidated with Novice
in 1949.
