Betty Jo (Memaw) Hayes, age 67, of Coleman, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at a San Angelo hospital. Graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m.on Thursday, May 5 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Betty Jo Cones on September 26, 1937 in Brown County, Texas, a daughter of the late Charlie Lee Cones and Lillian Mae Lambert Cones. She grew up in the May area and graduated from May High School in 1956. She was married to John Hayes in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1990. She lived in Blackwell for 13 years before moving to Coleman in 1980. She was a housewife and a nurse’s aide. She was a Baptist and a member of the Humane Society. Survivors include one son, James and wife Jennifer Mitchell of Talpa, Texas; one daughter, Jackie and husband Lloyd Parks, Jr. of Talpa; seven grandchildren, Christopher Coalson, MacKenzie Coulson, Kaysie Mitchell, Logan Mitchell, D. J. Mitchell, Trisha Russell, Colton Russell; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Rebel, Justice, Deacon; a special friend, Linda Christian; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Gerard Podlevsky, age 49, of Burkett, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Coleman Healthcare Center. His body will be cremated and no services are planned. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home. Gerard Podlevsky was born August 30, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of Simone Petitnicolas and the late Morris H. Podlevsky. Gerard grew up in Long Island, New York and Los Angeles, California and attended school in Los Angeles. He was married to Gail Sue Coffey in California and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2004. He moved to Burkett in 1985 and was a mechanic. He was Catholic. Survivors include two sons, Brandon Podlevsky and Derek Podlevsky both of Burkett, Texas; his mother, Simone Gasser of Newport Richey, Florida; one brother, Robert Podlevski of Burkett, Texas; one nephew, Daniel Podlevski of Ft. Edith Everett, 96, of Coleman passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 at Coleman County Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7th at Hopewell Baptist Church in Crews, Texas with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating, under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd Street in Abilene. Edith and her twin brother, Edwin Roy, were born in Talpa, Texas on June 30, 1908 to Rial and Mary Tate Barnett. In 1910, the family moved to Marfa, Texas and then to Ft. Davis where she graduated from high school in 1928. In 1995, she moved to Crews, Texas from Valentine, Texas where she had lived for 57 years and in 2003, she moved to Coleman. She is survived by two sons, Bob Everett of Valentine, Texas and Jim Everett and wife, Mary Alice, of Aspermont; one daughter, Carolyn Webb and husband, Joe, of Coleman; 16 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parent; her twin brother, Edwin Roy in August, 1972; a daughter, Billie McDonald; five brothers and five sisters; and a grandson, Ray Lynn Chastain. Wiley Donald (Don) Newton entered this world August 7, 1931, at Burkett, Texas. He left this life quietly and peacefully, Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Irving, Texas, following an exhaustive struggle with cancer. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Stacy Cemetery in McCulloch County, with Mike Riley officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Don graduated from Burkett High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin and Southwest State Teachers College, now Texas State University, at San Marcos. He was called to serve his country during the Korean Conflict and is a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany and France. He began his professional career with IBM in New York City and later transferred to the Dallas and Fort Worth offices. He left the world of computers to become a partner in Newton Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Kaufman, and was a partner in Howard and Newton’s Forney Motors and Car Wash in Forney, from which he retired to enjoy his various hobbies. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Cox Newton of Rockwall, a daughter, Carol Ann Embrey of St. Louis, Missouri; a grandson Aaron Douglas Newton and his wife Jennifer of Rockwall, a great-granddaughter, Megan Newton of Rockwall; a brother, Wayne C. Newton of Brownwood; a nephew, John Klarfield of Houston and three nieces, Mary Kay Coel of Houston, Jane Ann Weinrich of Lenexa, Kansas, Bonnie Anderson of Fleetwood, North Carolina. He will surely be missed by many wonderful friends, "in-law" relatives and his devoted companion, "little dog," Elsie Ann Newton. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Don Newton, his parents, Wylie M. and Estie Cochran Newton, a brother Byron Newton and a sister, Mildred Klarfield. Funeral services for Peggy Newman, 70, of Blanket, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with Dr. Steve McMeans officiating. Interment followed in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Newman died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1935. On May 30, 1953, she married Lewie Newman in Coleman. She was a member of May First Baptist Church. Mrs. J. D. (Tencie) Green, age 84, of Bowie, Texas (formerly of Coleman) passed away Thursday, May 5, 2005 in Bowie, Texas. Services were Sunday at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tut Jones officiating. Henderson Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements. She was born Lillie Mae Young April 11, 1921 in McCulloch County, Texas to the late Jessie W. and Mollie Baker Young. Tencie was reared in McCulloch County where she attended school at Mercury. On January 22, 1941 Tencie married James D. Green in Coleman and they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. J. D. preceded her in death in 1999. She resided in Coleman where she was a member of Concho Baptist Church from 1941 till 1988, then moving to Burkburnett. Tencie was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Aline and husband Bill Fincannon of Bowie, Texas; granddaughter, Melissa and husband Jesse Hunter of Lewisville, Texas; three grandsons, David Shepherd of Waco, Texas, Mickey and wife Robin Fincannon of Burkburnett, Texas and Larry and wife Pennie Shepherd of San Antonio, Texas and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at the First Christian Church May 8, 2005 in Brownwood for a former Santa Anna resident, Mary Gwendolyn Horton, 78 years of age. She died May 5, 2005 in an Abilene hospital. Mary Gwendolyn was born June 9, 1926 in Albany, Texas to the late Fred and Maris Nance Horton. She was married to Joseph Coyle Horton on February 19, 1945 in Brownwood. After retiring from the United States Geological Survey team in 1980, they made their home in Brownwood. He preceded her in death in 1987. Survivors include one son, Tommy Horton of Branson, Missouri; a daughter, Nancy and her husband Arnold Childers of Brownwood; one granddaughter and one grandson; an aunt and uncle, James and Rita Nance of May; and an aunt, Nan Nance, of San Angelo. Rick Alston, age 59 of Coleman, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his residence. No services are scheduled at this time. His body will be cremated. He was born Cecil Rodrick Alston on April 7, 1946 in Sweetwater, the son of the late Cecil Alston and Velma Alston Fulcrod. He grew up and attended school in Sweetwater and had lived in Coleman for the last 30 years. He worked at the Brick and Tile Plant and for Gardner Electric. Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Bennett and Candy Fleck both of Rapid City, Dakota; Kristi Raborn of Abilene; his mother, Velma Fulcrod of Sweetwater, three sisters and seven grandchildren. Orin Smith, age 85, of Coleman and formerly of Hydesville, California, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his family. No services are planned. His body will be cremated. He was born Orin Eugene Smith on December 17, 1919 in Loleta, California, the son of Harold Arthur Smith and Hattie Irene Amen. He grew up and attend school in Loleta and Rohnerville, California. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He married Nancy Lea Ridenour on February 6, 1960 in Reno, Nevada. He worked in the lumber industry as a Cat Skinner and retired after working 18 and a half years from the Fortuna Union High School as a custodian and school bus driver. He volunteered with Cancer Society and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He moved to Coleman a year ago. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Smith of Coleman; three children, Leanna Greenbush of Lynn Haven, Florida, Karen Stamp of Coleman, Peter Smith of Eureka, California; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Marge Smith of Fresh Water, California, Cliff and Nora Smith of Mad River, California, Vernon and Linda Smith of Fortuna, California, Ferris and Adrian Smith of Chico, California; one sister, Ruby Oliveira of Fortuna, California; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers. Bonnie M. Lewis Polk, age 73 of Coleman, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Graveside services were 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Talpa Cemetery with Sam Wilson officiating. Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Bonnie Marie Lewis on August 23, 1931, the daughter of Lowell Lewis and Tennie Gilmore Lewis. She grew in Carbon and married Calvin C. Polk on December 6, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2004. She had moved to Coleman three years ago from Marfa and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Joel Polk of Big Spring; one brother, Ward Lewis and his wife LaVonda, of Talpa; two sisters, Lorene Lewis of Austin, LaNell Williams and husband Johnny of Coleman; one grandson, Zach Polk of Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elbert L. Todd, 85, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Spring Season Nursing Home in Abilene. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ross Cemetery Annex, conducted by Rev. David Leyerle and directed by Parker Funeral Home. Elbert was born February 10, 1920 in Scoby, Montana. He had been a resident of Baird since 1974, moving here from Santa Anna. He had resided in Nara Springs, Iowa since 1957 before moving to Santa Anna. He was a farmer prior to moving to Baird and was employed at Callahan County General Hospital in maintenance. He served in the U.S. Army and married Nina Leek in Afton, Iowa on August 27, 1944. She preceded him in death in November of 1978. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Abilene. Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Villafranca of Clearwater, Florida, Sandra Krull of Barren Springs, Michigan and Connie Ruhwedder of Ankeney, Iowa; two sons, Dave Todd and Larry Todd, both of Abilene; two sisters, Margie Perkins of Grimes, Iowa and Mildred Peterson of Afton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Virginia Ruth Dodson, age 80 of Coleman, died Monday, May 16, 2005 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will be at the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Ruth was born on June 29, 1924 in Santa Anna, the youngest child of the late Dr. R. R. Lovelady and Myrtle Moon Lovelady. She grew up and attended school in Santa Anna and attended Baylor University. She then met James Edward Dodson and they married in 1944 in Elko, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 1979. Ruth earned her Masters of Library Science degree from Howard-Payne University and was principal and taught in the Santa Anna School District. She had lived in Coleman since 1954 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Janice Dodson of Stockton, California; one brother, Roy (Buddy) Lovelady of Austin; three grandsons, Paul Dodson of Stockton, California, Heath Dodson of Washington, D.C., Joe Dodson of Berkley, California; two great-granddaughters, Brittany Dodson and Taylor Dodson both of Stockton, California and numerous nieces and nephews. Odie C. Matthews, 87, of Ballinger, passed away Monday evening, May 16, 2005 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Thursday, May 19, 2005) at Hopewell Baptist Church in Crews, Texas. Burial will follow in the Crews Cemetery. Rains-Seale Funeral Home of Ballinger is in charge of arrangements. Odie was born October 6, 1917 in Santa Anna, Texas to Berry and Ruby Belle Fuller Matthews. He married Mabel Coleman Granzin in San Angelo in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1982. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, George Granzin and a brother, Arvol Matthews. He was a retired farmer and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Faulkner and husband, Ronnie of Tuscola and Margie Faulkner and husband, Don of Abilene; a son, Jim Matthews and wife, Glenda of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. David Nichols, age 57, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Bangs Nursing Home. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at Fairview Cemetery near Grosvenor, Brown County, Texas. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. David Nichols was born June 26, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas, a son of the late Marvin Henry Nichols and Winnie Mae Field Nichols Allen. He grew up in Brownwood and Early where he attended school. David worked in a sheltered workshop and attended church at Southside Assembly of God while living in Brownwood. In 1984 he moved to Coleman where he lived until 1997 when he moved to the Bangs Nursing Home. Irvin W. Gage, age 81, of Cross Plains (a former resident of Coleman where he managed the Goodyear Store) passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Hendrick Health Care Unit. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday at Higginbotham Chapel, with Ronnie White officiating; burial was in the Cross Plains Cemetery. He was born in Callahan County on April 8, 1924 to Oscar M. Gage and Beulah (Irvin) Gage. He married Lena Ware on June 25, 1943 in Rising Star, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Tony and Donna. He retired as a store manager for Goodyear and was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Lena Gage of Cross Plains; son, Tony Gage and wife, Sharon of Clyde; daughter, Donna Freytag and husband Richard of Temple; brother, O. M. Dorothy Jean Coleman, age 78, long-time Fort Worth resident, died at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas on May 19, 2005. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Miles Cemetery in Miles, Texas with Rev. Chester McCowan officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas. She was born Dorothy Jean Lummus on May 7, 1927 in Miles, Texas, a daughter of Roy Edgar Lummus and Mary Lee Holland Lummus. She grew up in Miles and graduated from Miles High School in 1945. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Miles, was active in the Miles community and ran the school concession stand there. She moved to San Angelo where she lived several years and worked at the Holiday Inn. In the 1970’s she moved to Fort Worth and worked at Vance Godbey’s for many years. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Paul Dugan of Clyde, Texas, Pam and Roland Witt of Coleman, Texas; one sister, Naomi (Pickie) Porter of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two faithful sisters-in-law, Josh Landwermeyer of Richardson, Texas and Goldie Coleman of San Angelo, Texas; three grandchildren, Tia and husband Curtis Snell and Flint and wife Anna Wallace all of Weatherford, Texas and Chance Witt of Coleman, Texas; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Jo Ann Simpson, age 66, of Bangs and former Coleman resident, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at Brownwood, Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 24, 2005) at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. James Posey officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Jo Ann was born December 3, 1938 in Coleman, the daughter of the late Ruth Eldred Simpson and George Simpson. She moved to California early in life with her family, attending school in Ventura. She married Doyle Roberts in Coleman and moved to Bangs five years ago. She is survived by her father, George Simpson of Brownwood, one sister, Ruby McCullough of Brownwood; two granddaughters, Terry Gregory and Sara Gregory, both of Ventura, California and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Leslie Dixon, age 68, of Coleman passed away May 20, 2005 at Hendricks Medical Center. Funeral services will be today (Tuesday May 24th) at 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dutch Mann officiating. There will be no committal services. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Son of the late William and Maggie Jones Dixon, he was born October 24, 1936 in Coleman. Leslie was a lifetime Coleman County resident, a carpenter, mechanic, and member of the First Baptist Church of Glen Rose. He is survived by four daughters; Debra Dixon of Coleman, Carrie and husband Ricky Robbins of Abilene, Neva Simpson of Coleman, and Paula Balfanz of Dalhart; three sons, William Simpson of Coleman, James and his wife Barbra Dixon of Granbury, and Bruce Thompson of Coleman; one sister, Billie Wylie of Granbury; and one brother, Herman and his wife Edna Dixon of Dallas. Terry Harris, age 58, of Cross Plains passed away Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Rising Star Nursing Center. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 at Higginbotham Chapel, with Richard Chaffin officiating. Burial followed in the Cross Plains Cemetery. He was born in Coleman, Texas on March 14, 1947 to Tommie and Lora Faye (Odom) Harris. Terry graduated from Cross Plains ISD in 1966. He attended Cisco Jr. College, Texas A & M and received his Masters Degree from Texas Tech. He owned Harris Roustabout and also owned and operated Bug Busters Pest Control. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Frances Burnett of Santa Anna passed away May 21, 2005 at her residence after a long illness. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Gouldbusk Cemetery. Frances was born in Post, Texas on August 23, 1930 to the late Ernest and Virgie Taylor. She married the late Arvill Burnett in Richmond, California in 1945. Together they had four children. She lived in California until 1983 when she moved to Blanket, Texas and in 1989 to Santa Anna, Texas. She managed E & W Outlet and Winnie¹s Boutique and also cooked at Tradewinds Restaurant and at Dairy Queen in Santa Anna. She is survived by two daughters, Kay McGee and husband Corky of Santa Anna and Brenda Crossno and Gaylen Pickett of Coleman; 11 grandchildren, Mardy Lyn of Missouri, Tonya of Virginia, Tim of Arkansas, Lynaya of Florida, Renee of Louisiana, Mary of South Carolina, Frances of Texas, Forrest of Texas, Kathryn of Texas, Jeramy of Texas and Cindy of Missouri; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. CROSS PLAINS: Wilda Silva Klutts Edington passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005, after a brief illness. Graveside services were 1 p.m. Sunday at the Cross Plains Cemetery with Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains in charge of the services. Wilda was the granddaughter of Callahan County pioneers G. W. and Emma Klutts and Sam and Hattie Long of the Dressy community southwest of Cross Plains. She was the daughter of Carl and Jessie Long Klutts. She was 91 years old on March 18, 2005. Until her death, she continued to farm the land settled by her grandfather in 1888. In 1930, she married R. E. (Hick) Edington of Burkett. They worked in the copper mines of Bisbee, Arizona and the shipyard in Evansville, Indiana where she welded landing craft. Returning to Texas to farm after World War II, they lost their oldest daughter, Bobbie Nell, in the polio epidemic of 1950. Another daughter, Terry Ann, joined daughter Sue in 1954. Hick died in 1981. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Cross Plains. Her survivors include daughter Sue and James Branch and their children, Terry Jane and Ryan of Rotan, daughter Terry Ann and Grant Dukes and their sons, 2nd Lt. Will McAdams and Greg Dukes. Nephews are Sammy Edington of Abilene, Carlos Klutts of Austin and Donald Edington. Surviving nieces are Paula Fuqua and Donna Vick of Fort Worth, Jan McKee of Granbury, Lana Rosenthal of Sao Paolo, Brazil, Lela Cathey and Fay Young of Coleman and Linda Landrum. Her surviving sibling is Fred Klutts and wife Wynell, formerly of Hamilton and now living in Fort Worth. Her brother Barney Klutts passed away in 2003 and sister Goldia in 2001. Sister-in-law Joyce Klutts resides in Smithville; her brother-in-law, Carl Edington of Cross Plains and sister-in-law, Lucille Barr, husband Anse and their daughters, Jo Ellen Barr and Ann Long also survive. Lorene Whitmire, age 61, of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 4:38 a.m. at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood. Services will be graveside at the Santa Anna Cemetery today (Tuesday) at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Art Allen officiating. Interment will follow with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. She was born Mary Lorene Hutchison on March 9, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Orvel and Ruby Odell Johnson Hutchison. Lorene was reared in Arkansas where she attended school. In January of 1966 she married Lewis M. Whitmire and they had celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage. Lorene had been a resident of Santa Anna since 1981, she was employed at the Deli of Shoppin Baskit and was a Methodist. Survivors include her husband, Lewis Whitmire of Santa Anna, Texas; three sons, Joe Hale of Santa Anna, Texas, Bobby and wife Nita Hale of Santa Anna, Texas, Gary and wife Tammy Hale of Santa Anna, Texas; a step-daughter, Tonya Whitmire of Oklahoma; two step-sons, Seth and Delwin Whitmire, both of Auberry, California; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Michael Oxford, lovingly known as "Monchito," of Colorado Springs, Colorado went to live with Jesus on Sunday, May 22, 2005. He enjoyed life to the fullest in the short time we were allowed to have him. He was dearly loved and cherished by all who knew him. Mrs. Jennie Fredricka Krempin Smith, age 88 of Coleman, passed away May 25, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Henry Chisholm officiating. Burial will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Daughter of the late Adolph and Eliza Schilling Krempin, she was born April 22, 1917 in Lincoln, Texas. On July 23, 1944 she married Earle Edward Smith in Abilene. He preceded her in death in 1995. Jennie graduated from Ballinger High School and had resided in Coleman for most of her life. She and Earl operated Earl Smith Jewelry Store, where she has remained active until present. Jennie was a member of the First United Christian Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra and husband Mike Stith of Coleman and Cindy and husband Steve Cartwright of Boulder, Colorado; one son, Ed and his wife Rori Smith of Mesa, Arizona. James (Buck) Bludworth, age 89, of Henderson (formerly of Burkett) died May 26, 2005 in Henderson. He was born April 18, 1916 in Coleman, Texas, was a member of South Main Church of Christ and retired from Amerada Hess Oil Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Bludworth; a brother, Carl Bludworth; and a sister, Ruby Biehl. Funeral services for Raymond K. Green, 94, of Plainview were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Plainview with Dr. Max Browning officiating. Interment followed in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Green passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Plainview. He was born December 17, 1910 and was reared in Brownwood where he graduated from high school. He attended Daniel Baker College and graduated with the class of 1934. He later received his Master's degree in Education from Texas Tech University. He was married to Juanita Jo Beasley on December 24, 1938 in Lamesa. He served as superintendent for the Draw, Crosbyton, Santa Anna and Post school districts. In 1958, the family moved to Plainview where he served as elementary principal until his retirement. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wesley Class and served the church in many capacities. He is survived by Jo Green, his wife of 66 years; a daughter, Barbara Alene Franklin and husband Alan of Austin; two sons, Kent Green and wife Barbara of Plainview and Jim Bob Green and wife Mary of West Bridge, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Debbie Sowell of Midwest City, Oklahoma, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 30, 2005. She was born on October 12, 1962 in Lovington, New Mexico to James and Jackie Haynes. Her husband, Dr. Rick Sowell, is the pastor of Choctaw Road Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Debbie was involved at CRBC, directing PraiseKids and singing on the PraiseTeam. She was also a Teacher's Assistant at Indian Merdian Elementary School where she touched the lives of many children. Debbie leaves many memories to her husband Rick and children, Briana, Brady and Bryce. She will be forever remembered by her family: parents James and Jackie Haynes of Weatherford, Texas; brother Gary Haynes of Spokane, Washington; brother Joe Haynes of Gonzales, Texas; brother John Haynes of Abilene, Texas; and brother Luke Haynes of Weatherford, Texas, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ysabel M. Lopez, age 94 of Santa Anna, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Clement Onwunata, CSSp officiating. Burial will follow in the Valera Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Ysabel Martinez on August 24, 1910 in Coleman County, the daughter of Eutimo Martinez and Julia Guerrero Martinez. She married Juan Lopez in July, 1929. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1990. She moved to Santa Anna in 1992 after living in Valera for 45 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Felix Lopez of Fort Worth; one brother, C. G. Martinez of Fort Worth; two granddaughters, Janda Aleese Lopez Castillo of Kerrville, Manda D’Neese Lopez Kline of Arlington, Virginia; one great grandson, Jacob Michael Castillo of Kerrville and numerous nephews and nieces including Ofelia DeLeon, Julia Enriquez and Amelia DeLeon all of Santa Anna. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincente Martinez, Asencion Martinez, Eleno Martinez; four sisters, Juanita Deanda, Josefa Dela Rosa, Edwarda Garcia and Tomasa Martinez. Weldon was born September 30, 1922 to G. L. (Pa) Joyce and Lola (Ma) Joyce in Wall, Texas. Weldon is survived by LaJuan (formerly LaJuan Norris), his wife; three daughters, Linda Cole and husband Gene; Sue Fletcher and husband Tom; and Jann Joyce and fiancé Jim Gresham. Jacky Duane McDonald, age 73 of Coleman, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Jacky was born April 13, 1932 in Coleman County, the son of Newton Carl McDonald and Maxie Williams McDonald. He attended school at Loss Creek and served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Barbara Ann Arnold on August 8, 1952 in Coleman. He worked in oil field in and around Coleman. He moved to Houston and worked for Brown Oil Tools, Inc. and returned to Coleman in 1974. He attended Barber College in Abilene and became a licensed barber, working in Coleman where he owned Clifford Moore Barber Shop. He continued to work in the oil field until 1987. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, loved his family and playing a good game of 42. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann McDonald of Coleman, one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Denise McDonald of Lake Brownwood; two daughters and son-in-law, Vicki and Dr. Steve Arthur of Abilene, Sherry Cozart of Coleman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Dorothy McDonald of Coleman, Bill and Joyce McDonald of Abilene; his mother-in-law, Ernestine Arnold of Coleman; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Kay Sprinkles, Diane Elkin and Patta Blake all of Lake Brownwood; nine grandchildren, Logan McDonald, Lindsey McDonald, Allison Cowling, Angela Zuyus, Robin Arthur, Josh Rhone Arthur, LaShan Arthur, Garrett Cozart, Reagan Cozart; two great-grandchildren, Braaden Morton, Katelynn Zuyus and numerous nieces and nephews.
