James R. (Jay) Irwin, age 84, of Coleman, died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside service will be 2:00 p. m. Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Coleman City Cemetery with Rev. James King, pastor of Grace Tabernacle in Abilene officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. James was born November 17, 1919 in Colorado City, Texas and was a son of the late Otto and Katie Allison Irwin. He grew up in Colorado City, Abilene and other places in Texas. On February 11, 1943, he married Ella Mae Leverett in Abilene and she preceded him in death on June 1, 1996. He moved to Coleman in 1961 and was a wrecking yard operator. He was a member of Gospel Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include one
son, James W. Irwin, Sr. of Coleman; one daughter, Dorothy Helen Wright
of Coleman; nine grandchildren, Debbie Rasor of Brownwood, Ricky Norway

Stanford “Ed’ Blanton, Sr., age 77, passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. Services were 3:00 p. m. Monday at Hubbard - Kelly Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa with Rev. Gary Kincaid officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services were entrusted to Hubbard - Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa. He was born November 11, 1926 to Roy and Annie Mae Blanton in Coleman County, Texas. His parents preceded him in death. He married Mabel Strickland on January 27, 1945, in Coleman, Texas. Ed served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Japan. He was a member of A. A. for over 24 years, and also the VFW. He retired in 1985 from Dunigan Tool as a machinist and welder. Survivors include his wife, Mabel Blanton of Odessa; son, S.E. Blanton, Jr., of Odessa; daughter, Margaret Ruff and husband, Craig, of Aledo, Texas; sister, Thelma Sides of Coleman, Texas; daughter-in-law, Joy Maples of Florida; grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Ruff and wife, Caryn, of Laverne, Oklahoma, Tammy Shelton and Kenny of Aledo, Texas and Terry Blanton and Phil of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Cody Collier, Nicolas Collier and Kameron Ruff. Nelda Edna Blackburn, age 83 of Brady, Texas passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Brady. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Cemetery, with burial to follow under the direction of Heritage Funeral Homes. Born May 22, 1910 in Fnedonia, Texas, she was the daughter of Zephie and Edna (McCartey) Farmer. On November 12, 1938, she was married to Richard D. Blackburn in Menard, Texas. He preceded hen in death on October 10, 1994. She was a housewife and a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Waymon Blackburn and wife Willene of Edora, Kansas and Royce Blackburn and wife Margaret of Brownwood; one daughter, Wanda Lou Ashby and Jerry Baugh of Coleman; one sister, Rozella Carroll of Brady; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bobby Joe Phillips, age 68, died Tuesday evening, January 6, 2004 at Medical Center Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p. m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at Hubbard - Kelly Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Coleman City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard - Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa. Bob was the youngest son of Lee Elmer and Mayme Harrell Phillips. He was born September 23, 1935 in Quinhin, Texas and grew up in Coleman and eventually started his own family in Odessa after marrying Martha Templin, also of Coleman. Bob actively volunteered his time to the community in such roles as a youth baseball coach, 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite of Dallas, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Post Office after 39 years of service during which time he also was a master watch repairman and jeweler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother OdelI Phillips, and sister Marie Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha; two sons, Bryan and wife Amy and Brad and wife Dian; two grandchildren, Colton and Erica; three brothers, Lee Phillips and wife Nina of Dallas, Harold Phillips and wife Katie of Coleman and Fred Phillips and wife Jean of Houston; one sister, Ruth Wade of Kiowa, Texas; one sister-in-law, Irene Phillips of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Barbara Ann Aiken, 65, of Grand Prairie, were held at 3 p. m. Saturday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Faye Simmons officiating. Burial followed in the Cross Plains Cemetery, under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home. Mrs. Aiken died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Doris Elaine Saunders, age 79 of Ft. Stockton, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 in Ft. Stockton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Church of Christ in Ft. Stockton. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 9th at 4:00 p. m. at Coleman City Cemetery with Rev. Harold Durham officiating. Doris was born July 19, 1924 in Coleman. She was a retired Lab Technician. She had been a resident of Ft. Stockton since 1955 and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two nephews, Tommy Saunders and wife Kathy of Coleman and Dr. William Saunders and wife Betsy of Arlington; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Saunders of Coleman. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren Saunders, Donald Saunders, Tommy Saunders and Oplin Saunders; one sister, Vivian Saunders; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Saunders. W. J. “Dub” Byler, 73, of Ballinger, died Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2004 in Angelo Community Hospital. Funeral service was 2 p. m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Ballinger officiated by Rev. Jon Mark Fowler and Rev. James Gibson. Burial followed in the Old Runnels Cemetery. Arrangements were by Rains Seale Funeral Home. He was born September 2, 1930 in Runnels County to Wilmer J. and Opal Lee Horton Byler. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and married Wanda McDaniel on October 17, 1953. Together they had three sons, Will, Wagner and Hamp. She preceded him in death on April 3,1980. He married Linda Lloyd on June 16, 1984 in Ballinger. His parents and his son, Hamp also preceded him in death. Dub and Wanda owned and operated Byler Motor Company from 1968 to 1981. He started Byler Dozer in 1979 and operated it with his son Will and wife Linda until his death. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Ballinger; his sons, Will Byler and his wife, Karen of Ballinger and Wagner Byler of San Saba; his step-daughters, Shamone Minzenmayer and her husband Brian of San Angelo and Shannon Parrish and her husband, Howard of Arlington; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell Byler and wife, Erma of Bangs; sister, Sharolyn Byler Mullen and husband, Bruce of Bangs; mother-in-law, Jerry Lloyd of Winters; an uncle, Arthur Doose of Gouldbusk and an aunt, Ruth Rathjen of Kerrville; a brother-in-law, Bob McDaniel and wife, Theresa; a special niece, Shy Ann Mayfield; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends also survive. Bessie Lou Thomas Woodard, age 98, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2004. She was a resident of the Northwood Care Center in Marble Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 a. m. Saturday (January 17th) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Northway officiating. Mrs. Woodard will be buried next to her husband in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Born on April 15, 1905 near Sanger, Texas, she was the daughter of Wade H. and Annie Simpson Thomas. In 1906, her family moved to Coleman County, where she lived for 92 years. She married Henderson Allen Woodard on November 27, 1923 in Gouldbusk. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1980. She graduated from Coleman High School in 1923 and from beauty school in Abilene in 1950. She was a beautician for 32 years, owning Beauty Center and later Lou’s Beauty Salon. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and moved to Marble Falls in August 1997 to be near her son. Survivors include her youngest sister, Juanita Taylor of Abilene; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Billie Jean Woodard of Odessa and Robert and Norma Woodard of Marble Falls; grandchildren, Gayle Alexander and husband Elmus of Granite Shoals, Ginger Rogers and husband Steve of Coppell; Steve Woodard and wife Teresa of Abilene; great-grandchildren, Dana Poindexter of Glendale, Arizona, Morris McManigal of Garland, Jana Dumas of Austin, Megan Alexander and Courtney Garcia of Granite Shoals, Kyle, Eric and Kurt Rogers of Coppell, Jim and Katherine Woodard of Abilene; and a host of nieces and nephews, including Glenn Thomas of Coleman. Mr. Fred White, age 82 of Coleman, passed away January 11, 2004 at the Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be a Masonic graveside Wednesday, January 14th at 2 p. m. at the Santa Anna Cemetery with the Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating and Mr. Ervin Wells assisting. Burial will follow under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Son of the late Claude and Willie Mae Funderburg White, he was born October 12, 1921 in Coleman County. On November 9, 1973 he married Vermell Yates in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Fred had lived most of his life in Coleman, where he was a retired electrician, member of the Episcopal Church, a fifty year member of Coleman Masonic Lodge # 496, and of the Shrinners. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the United States Air Force as a sergeant, and received the WWII Victory Medal, American Defense Ribbon, Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and one Bronze Service Star. Lee Wayne Strickland, Sr., age 77, of Coleman, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside services with Military Honors were 3:00 p. m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Voss Cemetery Pavilion, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland was born August 14, 1926 in Voss, the son of Percy Lee and Beaulah Loggins Strickland. He attended school at Voss and Mozelle. He served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving the Army Occupation Medal for Japan and Germany, American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. After serving in the military, Mr. Strickland worked for Brown & Root, mainly in the Middle East and retired from Halliburton in the late 1980’s. Survivors include two sons, Lee Wayne Strickland, Jr. of Shingle Springs, California, Maurice Strickland of Denton; two brothers, Arch Strickland of Gouldbusk, Guinn Strickland of Fort Worth; three sisters, Voncile Thomason of Gouldbusk, Mabel Blanton of Odessa, Reta Grusendorf of Spur and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rita Mitcham, age 69 of Abilene, passed away January 17, 2004 at the Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services were 3 p. m. Monday, the 19th, at the Cross Plains Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Pipes officiating and Mr. Farell Stephens assisting. Burial followed at the Burkett Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Born March 2, 1934 in Santa Anna to the late Arlie Frank and Ida Norene Mason Thate, she married Harold Dean Mitcham on July 2,1955. A retired restaurant owner, Rita was a member of the Church of Christ in Abilene and Burkett, and had lived most of her life in Coleman County. She is survived by many cousins and close friends. Ken Bowker, age 76, of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Sunday, January 18, 2004 at 3:36 a. m. at the Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Services will be Wednesday, at 3:30 p. m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Weathers and Rev. Art Allen officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. Family will receive friends this evening (Tuesday) from 6 until 8 p. m. at Henderson Funeral Home. He was born Kenneth Mills Bowker, Jr. to the late Kenneth Mills Bowker, Sr. and Gertrude Louise Cushing Bowker on June 26, 1927 in Karney, Nebraska. Ken was raised in Karney where he attended school and was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He received his Bachelors Degree from McMurry University and attended Abilene Christian University and then received his Masters Degree from HardinSimmons University. On January 31, 1953 Ken married Coyita Griffin in Santa Anna and they have celebrated nearly fifty-one years of marriage. A resident of Santa Anna for 51 years he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Santa Anna Lions Club 48 years, Brownwood Elks Lodge #2300 18 years, Men of ESA, Santa Anna Volunteer Fire Department and lifetime member of UFW and Texas State Teachers Association. Following a teaching career in Talpa and Santa Anna he was principal and counselor in Santa Anna retiring in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Coyita Bowker of Santa Anna, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Danny Wheatley of Santa Anna, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Karen Bowker of Anson, Texas; two Grandsons. William 0. Weirich age 71 of Coleman, Texas passed away Sunday, January 18, 2004 at 7:35 p. m. at Coleman County Medical Center. Memorial services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Reed officiating. Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman is in charge of arrangements. William was born October 3, 1932 in West Columbia, Texas to the late William Allen and Cora Aline Collins Weirich. He was reared in West Columbia where he graduated from West Columbia High School and then attended the University of Maryland. An Army veteran of Korea and Vietnam, William served with the Medical Corps from 1949 till 1958. He married Diane Jo Conner in Sweeny, Texas on October 3, 1982 and they have celebrated nineteen years of marriage. William has been a resident of Coleman since 1996 and was a member of the Baptist Church and life member of DAV, and was a mechanic by profession. Gordon A. Kelley, age 94, died Sunday, January 18, 2004, at an Abilene medical center. The funeral service will be 2 p. m. today (Thursday) at Broadview Baptist Church with Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott - Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Born the son of Emma Belle (Adams) and Tom Kelley on November 14, 1909 in Kaufman County, Texas, he attended schools in Buffalo and Coleman. He married Hester Coker on April 18, 1936 in Brownwood and in 1956 moved from Bangs, Texas to Abilene, where he retired from the City of Abilene after working for the street department for over 20 years. Mr. Kelley was a member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hester Kelley on July 29, 2003; his parents; a brother, E. A. “Adolph” Kelley; and a sister, Rosa Lee Seals. Funeral services for Howard Lee Hubbard, age 58, of Early, were held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Early with Revs. Calvin Knight and Eddie Ailshie officiating. Interment followed in the Cross Cut Cemetery in Brown County, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mr. Hubbard died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Howard Lee Hubbard was born in Coleman on February 21, 1945 to Arcie and Oneta Hubbard. He grew up in Odessa and worked for the Ector County Schools. Later he moved to Early and was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Ministries. Survivors include his mother, Oneta Hubbard of Early; one brother, Ron and wife, Betty, of Odessa; three nephews; two nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Opal Fay Bomba, age 90, of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 6:45 a. m. at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were Saturday at 10:30 a. m. at the Santa Anna Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Hale officiating. Interment followed with Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna in charge of arrangements. She was born Opal Fay Taylor on August 28, 1913 in Gouldbusk, Texas to the late William F. and Junetta Taylor. Opal was reared in the Gouldbusk community where she attended the Gouldbusk and Shields Schools. She had been a resident of Santa Anna since 1995, living in Coleman County and California most of her life. Opal married W. B. Franklin in 1930 in O’Donald, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1958. In 1959, she married Jim Elder who preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Alberto Bomba in Mexico in 1990 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Opal was a member of the Baptist Church and was an underwater welder during World War II and later a restaurant manager and also a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Willie George of Pittsburg, California, Bonnie Owen and Glenda Odom, both of Santa Anna, Texas; three sons, W. B. “Dub” Franklin, Jr. of Santa Anna, Texas, Donald Gay Franklin of Antioch, California, Tommy Elder of Pittsburg, California; a sister, Ava Dale Kilgore of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Frank Taylor and Wilburn Taylor, both of Santa Anna, Texas; 47 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren. Berniece Neff, age 86, of Coleman died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services were 10 a. m. Mrs. Neff was born July 8, 1917 in Coleman County, a daughter of Rogers “Doc” Keeney and Elvira Baker Keeney. She was reared in southern Coleman County and attended Mayo School. She married Robert H. “Bob” Neff on January 26, 1940 in Coleman County. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1984. Mrs. Neff was a housewife and member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Jackie Kenney of Coleman; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Valeta Neff of Midland; one sister, Auba Dunham of Fort Worth; two sisters-in-law, Opal Keeney of Coleman and Louise Keeney of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one grandson. Pallbearers were Dayton Neff, Reed Neff, Douglas Hagler, Jeff Tibbetts, Michael Loyd and Earon Monroe. William R. (Bill) Moore, Sr., age 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. A graveside service was held Thursday at Ross Cemetery Annex with Reverend Chad King will officiate, directed by Parker Funeral Home. Bill was born November 23, 1916 in Burkett, Texas to Robert and Ethel Moore. He attended school at Gail, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in the European Theatre. He was a paint foreman for Dean Hagler, Inc. for 27 years, retiring in 1979. He was a life member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. Bill married his wife, Betty on May 3, 1963. They have made their home in Baird since that time. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Betty; a daughter, Barbara (Doobie) Sanford and husband Clovis of Rockwall; a son, Bill Moore, Jr. and wife Elaine of Novice; a daughter, Marcia Brown and husband George of Odessa; a son, Jerry Moore and wife Yvonne of Carmine, Texas; grandchildren include Renea McGee, Douglas Moore, Angela lnzer, Matthew Brown, Aaron Moore and Sarah Moore. Also seven great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, a step-sister and one step-son. Pallbearers were Robert Park, Lloyd Ray Hughes, Arthur Smith, Clinton Hagler, Marty Martinez and Todd Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Barton, Woody Gordon, Dean Hagler, Jim Hatchett, Bill James, Terry Joy, Alton Payne, Benton Pruet and Craig Pruet. Betty Ann Kay McLaughlin, 60, passed away at her home in Tremonton, Utah, on Wednesday, January 28, 2004. The McLaughlins formerly lived in the Coleman area. Carter L. Dalton, age 72, of Irving and formerly of Coleman County, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at a Georgetown Nursing Home. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. Ernest DeWald officiating. Burial followed in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Dalton was born June 13, 1931 in Gouldbusk, a son of Samuel Horace Dalton, Sr. and Effie Clara Self Dalton. He was reared in Gouldbusk and Mozelle and graduated from Mozelle High School. He married Grace Lognion in 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He later married Jeanette Vales in Oklahoma. Mr. Dalton moved to Dallas after high school and to Lake Charles in 1954. Mr. Dalton moved to Irving in 1957. He owned a grocery store and a restaurant. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Lee and Linda Dalton of Liberty Hill, Texas; two sisters, Imogene Evans of Denton and Anna Walker of Big Spring; three nephews, Sam Dalton and Ron Dalton, both of Dallas and Joe Evans of Denton; two nieces, Sharon Griffith of Denton and Regina Pitt of Crum, Texas; two grandchildren, Christopher Dalton and Jeremy Dalton, both of Liberty Hill; ex-wife, Grace Lognion Dalton of Jennings, Louisiana and numerous cousins. Jo Alyce McMullan, 73, of Snyder, died Monday Morning at Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be at First United Methodist Church at 2 p. m., Wednesday with Reverend Buddy Payne officiating, directed by Bell-Cypert & Seale Funeral Home. Interment at Hillside Memorial Gardens. She was born January 5, 1931 in Coleman, Texas to T. C. and Johnnie Goss. S he was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelly McMullan on December 15, 2003. She was an Elementary School teacher in the Snyder Public Schools for 30 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama, Scurry County Historical Commission and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a graduate of Snyder Schools and Texas Tech University. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Billy Bob McMullan in Snyder August 25, 1950. Survivors include her husband, Billy Bob; three daughters and their husbands, LaTrix and Ronal Gladson of Plano, Janis and Wesley Key of Snyder and Jessica and Kelly Burton of Granbury; one sister, Shirley Browning of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren, Pam Alarcon of Snyder, Tommy Lane of Snyder, Jana Lane of Amarillo, Reis and Brooke Gladson both of Dallas, Reagan and Robin Key both of Snyder and Aaron Burton of College Station; and 10 great- grandchildren. Ella Mae Row, age 87 of Snyder died Friday, January 30, 2004 in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday in the Bell Cypert - Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Day, pastor of Avenue D Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Hillside Memorial Gardens. She was born December 18, 1916 in Vera and married J. D. Row on September 22, 1934 in Gouldbusk. He preceded her in death as did a daughter, Lawanna Vincent; two sons, Jerrell Wayne Row and Jackie Lynn Row; and two brothers, Chester and Arther Wade Machen. Mrs. Row was a homemaker and was retired from Cogdell Memorial Hospital. Angela Dawn Lester passed away Friday, January 30, 2004 in Midland, Texas. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with Ronnie White and John Snider officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Angela was born July 27, 1967 in Waco, Texas to Bob and Shirley Lester. She lived in Coleman and Big Spring while growing up. She worked with Burlington Resources and Southwest Royalties and was a member of Greenwood Church of Christ and the Petroleum Accountants Society of the Permian Basin. She had a tremendous love for children and volunteered her time at Pathways Youth Home, where foster children are awaiting adoption. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, O. B. Johnson and her grandmother, Myrtle Lester. Angela is survived by her son, Steffan Nicolas Jordan; her parents, Bob and Shirley Lester; sister and best friend, Andrea Leigh Allison; nephews, William Dalton Allison and Jackson Wesley Allison all of Midland; grandmother, Mary Johnson of Midland; grandfather, Roy Lester of Weaverville, North Carolina; aunts, Phyllis Earwood, Carolyn Lester and Marie Carter all of Weaverville, North Carolina; cousins, Jason Rathbone and his wife Amy and K. Hawley F. Fields, age 79, of Coleman, passed away January 30, 2004 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Monday, February 2 at 2 p. m. at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial followed at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Son of the late Hubert and KeIlie Brown Fields, he was born September 1, 1924 in Coke County, Texas. On May 13, 1967 he married Lora Seamans Fields in Midland. A resident of Coleman for the past 5 years, Hawley was a veteran of WWII, a hair stylist, and a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Lora, of Coleman; one brother, Carlton Fields of Robert Lee; and several nieces and nephews. Hawley was preceded in death by three brothers: Dick, Buster, and Bob Fields; and one sister, Louella Davidson. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Coleman.
