Lynda Lou Hughes, age
47, of Copperas Cove, Texas passed away Thursday, August 1, 2002 at a Killeen
hospital.
Linda was born on August 17, 1954 in Fort Hood, Texas to Nancy Holt Hughes and the late Major Martin Hughes. She graduated from Copperas Cove High School and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Gatesville. Survivors include her mother, Nancy Holt Hughes and a brother, Dr. Marty Hughes. Juanita Rowden, age 88, of Coleman, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating. Burial followed in the Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Juanita was born June 25,1914 in Springtown, Texas and was a daughter of William Noble Bedford and Fannie Lee Strickland Bedford. She grew up in the Burkburnett and Wichita Falls areas and attended school at Weath. In 1935, she married Harold Farquhar; he preceded her in death in 1976. On April 8, 1981, she married Joe H. Rowden in Coleman; he preceded her in death on November 27, 1984. She had lived in Coleman since 1981 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Concho Baptist Church. Survivors include one sister, Fay Jones of Coleman; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, including Donna and Tim Ehrler of Coleman, Marsha and Russell Jones of Oklahoma City, Jerry and Sherry Berry of Burkburnett, Buddy Bird of Eastland and Carolyn Maddox of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Edward Diaz, Joel Diaz, Buddy Bird, Tim Ehrler, Mack Watson and Joe “Skeet” Coffee. Memorial services for Charles Thomas Lockwood, businessman and rancher, were held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Brownwood with Dr. William Heston officiating. Interment followed in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Born in Center, Texas to Charles C. and Etha Lockwood on February 27, 1919, Mr. Lockwood spent the first five years of his life in Toronto, Canada and moved back to Brownwood where his father entered the soft drink business. Charles graduted from Brownwood High School in 1936 and then attended Howard Payne University his freshman year. He then attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1940 with a degree in Business Administration. At UT he was house manager and treasurer for Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Upon graduating from college he then enlisted in the United States Naval officer training school. He became a Navy pilot and then was a pilot instructor serving in Atlanta, Georgia, Corpus Christi, Texas and Pensacola, Florida. He then flew Navy cargo planes in the South Pacific as well as South America. After the war, Charles returned to Brownwood and joined his father in the Dr Pepper Bottling Company. In 1947, he married Frances King in Coleman, Texas. In 1954, he and his brother Harold became majority partners in the Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Brownwood and worked together until 1991. He remained active in the business until his death, serving as vice-president and treasurer. As a Brownwood businessman, Charles served in various capacities. He was a member of the Downtown Lions Club for many years as well as serving on the board of directors of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce. In 1970 - 71, he served as president of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce. He was active for many years in Boy Scout activities and served as a district officer. He was a charter member of the former First National Bank of Brownwood First Advisory Council. He also served as a member of the Brownwood Industrial Foundation Board of Directors. He served on the bottler marketing committee for the Dr Pepper Parent Company in Dallas, Texas. For many years, Charles served as an elder and deacon in the United Presbyterian Church. The last several years he was a member of the Huff Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Brownwood. Charles was also involved in cattle and farming, as well as an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances of 47 years, in 1993. He is survived by his children, including daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Lockwood Perley and husband, William of Dallas, Texas, and son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. Lockwood and wife, Marianne of Brownwood, Texas. Charles loved and cherished his five granddaughters, Amber and Ashton Perley of Dallas, Texas; Ashley, Hillary and Caroline Lockwood of Brownwood. Survivors also include a sister and brother-in-law, Maureen Lockwood Voorhies and husband, Martin of Brownwood; brother and sister-inlaw, Harold and Marguerite Lockwood of Brownwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Saturday, August, 3, 2002, 10:00 a. m for Judson Brynell McAnally, age 74 of Lampasas who passed away July 31st at Rollins Brook Community Hospital. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Burnet County with Reid Schaub officiating under direction of Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home of Lampasas. Mr. McAnally was born
February 23, 1928 in Coleman to Jim McAnally and Lydia Ethel Barnett.
He was a United States Air Force veteran retiring after twenty years of
service as a boom operator with an aircraft refueling squadron. He was

Virginia Lee (Hays) Duran, age 79 of Tucson, Arizona died August 3, 2002. A memorial graveside service was held at 9:30 a. m. Saturday at Rough Creek Cemetery with Dean Coultas of Novice United Methodist Church officiating. Walker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A memorial service was held in Tucson on Saturday, August 24th. Born July 11, 1923 in Novice, Texas, she was the daughter of Pitzer L. Hays and Mary Pope. On September 3, 1945, she and Julian F. Duran II were married in San Angelo. He preceded her in death in 1988. She attended Novice schools, moving to San Angelo after high school where she worked for the telephone company for several years before marrying Mr. Duran, a career military man. They lived in many places around the world during his service career. She was a Methodist. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Barbra Enders of Tucson, Arizona; two sons, Julian F. Duran Ill of Portland, Oregon and Fred Duran of Tucson, Arizona; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and June Hays of Novice. Kathryn Alice Walker, age 57, passed away August 5, 2002 in Graford, Texas. Funeral services were held August 9, 2002 at 2:00 p. m. at the Fellowship Christian Believers Church in Graford. Burial followed in Graford Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Baum Carlock Bum-gardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Kathy was born December 8, 1944 in Moran, Texas to James and Charlotte Walker. She is survived by her father and stepmother, James and Viola Walker of Coleman; one sister, Margaret Slay of Graford; five brothers, Darrell, Jeffrey and Jason Walker all of Coleman, David Walker of Eastland and Bo Lewis of Mineral Wells; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Word has been received of the recent death of Mrs. Marilyn Baxter-Williams, age 82, of Bethesda, Maryland and formerly of Santa Anna. Mrs. Williams died August 5, 2002 at her home and burial was August 21, 2002 in the National Cemetery of Washington, D. C. Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Stafford and Effie Shoaf Baxter. She was a 1937 graduate of Santa Anna High School and a graduate of Howard Payne University. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was married to Arthur Williams who preceded her in death. Survivors include one son of Bethesda, Maryland; a brother, William (Billy) Baxter of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and several grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary Ann Walker, age 64 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cecil Dodd and Rev. W. James Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with J. L. Rogers, Roy Dunn, Jr., David Dunn, Justin Morris, Drew Rushing, Eddie Moon, Bobby Nymeyer and Russell Thomas serving as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home of Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Walker was born September 7,1937 at Kenton, Tennessee to Doyle and Mildred Matheny Collins. She married Ben David Walker at Colorado City, Texas on December 20, 1952. She was a sales clerk and a member of United Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her husband, Ben David Walker of Sulphur Springs; two daughters, Cathy Rasco of Coleman and Paulina Dunn of Santa Anna; three sons, Kennith Dunn of Miller Grove, Roy Dunn of Mt. Vernon and David Walker of Sulphur Springs; one brother, Lloyd Collins of Graham; two sisters, Bonnie Hamilton of Martin, Tennessee and Melanie Presley of Trimble, Tennessee; grandchildren, Angela Thomas, Jason Rasco, T. Lora Lou McDonald LaRoche, age 79, of Brady, Texas died Wednesday August 7, 2002 in Brady. Funeral services were 10:30 a. m. Friday at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Dr. John Stewart officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Cemetery at Brady, under the direction of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Born December 2, 1922 in Coleman County, Texas, she was the daughter of Curry McDonald and Molly (Woodard) McDonald. On April 19, 1980, she married Reverend James Archibald LaRoche Sr. in Brady. A resident of Brady since 1947. She worked many years for S. P. Tomlinson at the Hill Country Creamery and as a bookkeeper for J. C. Penney. She was a member of First Christian Church, Brady. She was an artist and taught painting classes for several years. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her husband. William Floyd West, age 41, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2002 in Arlington. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a. m. Friday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel with burial following at Emerald Hills Memorial Park. William was born January 21, 1961 in Fort Worth and grew up in Kennedale. He had been called to serve the Lord and also was a computer technician. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Brenda West; twin sons, Bradley and Brenton West of Arlington; his parents, Martin and Irma West of Kennedale; one sister, Lisa Hackney and family, Harold Alissa and Jared of Keller; and one brother, Lee Wayne West and family, Lori, Brooks and Brady of Coleman. Emilio Seballos, Sr., age 77, of Coleman, died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman with Father Lawrence Cyr officiating. Committal service was held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Anson, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Seballos was born May 29, 1925 in Seguin, Texas, a son of Dionicio and Julia Garcia Seballos. He grew up in Seguin and Anson. He married Lorenza Zambrano on February 3, 1947 in Anson. He moved to Coleman in 1977 from Anson. He was a farmer, member of Cursillista and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorenza Seballos of Coleman; three sons, Emilio Seballos, Jr. and Santos Seballos, both of Coleman and Tony Seballos of Pflugerville; five daughters, Ernestine Garcia of Lampasas, Rosalinda Garcia of North Richland Hills, Gracie Munoz of Austin, Rosemary Mendez of Georgetown and Gloria Allen of Blackwell; two brothers, Enrique Seballos and Jessie Seballos, both of Anson; six sisters, Tomasa Galvan, Frances Seballos, Lupe Seballos Jimenez, Maria Jimenez, all of Anson, Manuela Rodella of Abilene and Josephina Aguero of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rev. Lloyd Sansom, age 71 of Waco died August 9, 2002. Services were held 1:30 p. m. Tuesday, August 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Baifey Chapel in Waco with Rev. Howard Martin and Rev. Jane Lovett officiating. Burial followed in Waco Memorial Park under direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Rev. Sansom was born August 26, 1930 in Waco to Lynn and Corinne Sansom. He was a graduate of Waco High, Baylor University and SMU Perkins School of Theology. He married Joyce Ann Killion December 27,1952. He was a Methodist minister in the Central Texas Conference for 45 years and member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Duncan. Survivors include wife, Joyce Sansom of Waco; three daughters, Cindy Wilson and husband, Carroll of Olney, Linda Klump and husband, William of Waco and Janet Holt and husband, Jeremy of Waco; grandchildren, Christopher and Cheryl Wilson and Will and Lee Klump; and one sister, Bettye Bar-din and husband, Jack of Axtell. Mr. Clevenger was born on September 12, 1922 in Lawn, Texas and passed away on August 11, 2002 in Conroe, Texas. He was a World War II Navy veteran, an alumnus of Gulf Coast Bible College and a member of the Community Church of God in Conroe. He was an ordained minister and Bible teacher who pastored in Texas and Louisiana. For over fifty years he was a master carpenter. Louie Maurice Bozeman, age 78 of Nixa, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 12, 2002 in St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. Cremation was under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Nixa, Missouri. Services will be held at a later date. He was born April 3, 1924 near Coleman, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Before retirement Mr. Bozeman worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Mineral Wells and Wichita Falls. Survivors include his wife, Nora; two sons, Jimmy Lee Bozeman of Poetry, Texas and Richard Wayne Bozeman of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Bozeman, Jr., Richard Wayne Bozeman, Jr., Casey Jordan Bozeman and Cody Lee Bozeman; two sisters, Willie B. Grace McGregor, age 101, of Coleman died Monday, August 12, 2002 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside funeral service will be held at 4:00 p. m. today (Thursday) at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Miss McGregor was born August 20, 1900 in Coleman and was a daughter of Jesse and Gabriella Edwards McGregor. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She was previously a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a life-long resident of Coleman. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Eugenia (Jean) McGregor Tough of Brentwood, Missouri, Mary Lynn Tempone of Tucson, Arizona, Rebecca McGregor of Frisco, Texas, Robert Dean McGregor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Malcolm Brian McGregor of Dallas and Douglas Scott McGregor of Bryan, Texas. Helen Marie Anthony Burnam Rambo, age 88, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at Mesa Springs Healthcare Center in Abilene. Services are set for 2:00 p. m. today (Thursday, August 15) at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coleman, with Ralph Terry officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery directed by Stevens Funeral Home. Helen Burnam Rambo was born June 3, 1914 in Longview, Texas to Henry Milton and Katie Joe Foster Anthony. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1932 and married Edwin Burnam in 1934. They lived in Abilene, Victoria, Robstown, Corpus Christi, and Vernon before settling in Coleman in 1948. They operated “The Book Store” in Coleman until 1959. Over the years, her interest in flowers, gardening and birds developed until she became a local authority on these subjects. She earned the status of Master Flower Show Judge of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Incorporated. In addition, she was District Chairman of Bird Sanctuaries of Texas Garden Clubs, Incorporated for six years. In 1969, she married Jack Wilson Rambo. In later years she filled her time with her home, yard, Coleman’s Loaves and Fishes and Senior Citizen Group with their quilting projects being her favorite. Helen was a long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She lived her last two and one-half years in Mesa Springs Healthcare Center in Abilene. Survivors include two sons: Joe Ed and Nan Burnam of Abilene and Kenneth and Debbie Burnam of Montgomery; four grandchildren: Stephanie Burnam of Austin, Russell and Tern Burnam of Dallas, Tracey and Jim Cook of Grand Prairie, Brittany Burnam and one step-grandson, Brandon Morris of Montgomery; three great-grandchildren, Reagan and Ryan Cook of Grand Prairie and Cole Burnam of Dallas; one brother, Mark Anthony of Fort Worth and one brother-in-law, Paul Wayne Burnam of Lafayette, Louisiana, and eight nephews and one niece. Bernie B. Griffin, age 49, of Coleman died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p. m. Friday at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion, with Rev. Don Northway officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin was born November 28, 1952 in Menard, Texas, a son of Oleta Davis Griffin Carraway and the late J. T. Griffin. He was reared and attended schools in Menard. He served four years in the United States Army. He married Wanda Brooker in 1976. He was a truck driver. Survivors include three sons, Jason Griffin, who is in the military, Brandon Griffin and Lee Dan Griffin, both of Coleman; one daughter, Jennifer Griffin of Coleman; his mother, Ofleta Carraway; three brothers, Larry Gibbs of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Ira Carraway of Odessa and Lee Carraway of Coleman; one sister, Jamie Bowers of Coleman; one granddaughter, Danielle Dela Cerdea of San Angelo; one grandson, Jordan Hale of Coleman; former wife, Wanda Roachek of Coleman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Raiford was born November 19, 1935 in Enterprise, Texas and was the son of Raiford Stainback,, Sr. and Lela Morrow Stainback. On June 6, 1958, he married Donna Abraham in Canadian, Texas. He owned and operated several companies, was owner and president of Greenville Automatic Gas. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was past director of Texas Propane Gas Association and founder of Greenville Christian School where he served as a board member. Survivors include his wife, Donna Stainback of Greenville; sons, Kent Stainback of Dallas and Timothy Stainback of Greenville; daughters, Kari Stainback of Dallas and Lacy Feezel of Greenville; a sister, Nancy Bahm of Columbus, Texas; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Harp was born July 2, 1927 in Artesia, New Mexico, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie Johnson Gaston. She attended school in Robert Lee, Texas and married J. B. Harp in San Angelo in 1950. She moved to Abilene in 1955 from Jones County. She was an auditor for Merchants Fast Motor Lines, retiring after 29 ½ years. Survivors include her husband. J. B. Harp of Abilene; one son, Danny Harp and wife, Kathi of Austin; one daughter, Julie Fritts of Austin; three brothers, Lowell Gaston of Ft. Stockton. J. C. Gaston and Clem Gaston, both of Odessa; one sister, Evelyn Gopple of Santa Anna: two sisters-in-laws, Leta Gaston of Robert Lee and Inez Gaston of Farmington, New Mexico; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Neil Fitzpatrick, age 48, of Odessa, Texas passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 at his residence. Services were 11:00 a. m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna with Bro. John Stanislaw officiating, assisted by Rev. Bruce Hess. Interment followed at the Whon Cemetery, with Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna in charge of arrangements. Neil was born November 10, 1953 in Brownwood, Texas to Graham Fitzpatrick and the late Imogene Vivian Snowden Fitzpatrick. He was raised in Whon and graduated from Santa Anna High School, continuing his education at Tarleton University graduating in 1975. Neil married Kathy Fikes in Lubbock on October 15, 1995 and they had celebrated six years of marriage. He had been a resident of Odessa since 1982 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Baptist Church. Neil had been employed with West Texas Caterpillar for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Fitzpatrick of Odessa; three daughters, Josilyn Fitzpatrick of San Angelo, Ashley Fitzpatrick of Brenham and Whitney Fitzpatrick of Coleman; a son, Spencer Fitzpatrick of Coleman; step-daughter, Veronica Wimberley of Odessa; step-son, Quentin Wimberley of Odessa; his father, Graham Fitzpatrick of Whon; and a brother, Don Fitzpatrick of Whon. Joe Ed Wise, age 55 of Santa Anna, Texas died Friday, August 16, 2002 at 4:20 am. at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 17th at 2:00 p. m. at First United Methodist Church in Santa Anna with Rev. Art Allen, Pastor, officiating assisted by Rev. Rebecca Emory, Pastor of Corsicana Methodist Church. Interment followed in Rockwood Cemetery. Mr. Wise was born November 7, 1946 in Brady, Texas to Jo and Vera Faye Tisdale Wise. He graduated from Santa Anna High School and received a BS degree in Agriculture from Texas Tech University; also a Master degree in Education from Texas Tech. On August 15, 1969 he married Ruth Ann Walker in Santa Anna. From 1968 - 1971 he was Assistant County Agent in Lamesa; 1971 - 1974 Crosby County Agent; 1974 - 1976 Gaines County Agent; 1977 - 1982 Lamesa County Agent. From 1982 to the present he was Owner/President of Santa Anna National Bank. He was past President of the Lions Club of Santa Anna and a board member of the Soil Conservation District. Mr. Wise was Superintendent of the District Coleman County Goat Show; recognized as a leading agriculturist of this area; recognized as top goat judge of the nation; outstanding educator by the Sheep and Goat Raisers Association; and past Chairman P. T. R. Committee at Santa Anna United Methodist Church of which he was a member. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Wise of Santa Anna; mother, Mrs. Vera Faye Wise; two sons and daughters- in- law, Nathan and Amanda Wise of Santa Anna and Bradley and Dee Ann Wise of Brownwood; and three brothers, Hank Wise of Santa Anna, Korky Wise of Vernon, Texas and Mark Wise. Gertrude Williams age 95 of Coleman Passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 10:10 p. m. at Coleman Care Center. Services will be Friday at 11:00 a. m. at the Elm Street Church of Christ with Joe Hailey, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30 till 8 p. m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Gertrude was born in Coleman County on November 2, 1906 to the late Tom and Mattie Grisham Woodard. She was a life time resident of Coleman County where she attended the Mayo Schools. Gertrude married Alfred Williams on March 15, 1927 in Coleman and they had celebrated forty-nine years of marriage. Alfred preceded her in death in 1976. Gertrude was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ and a nurse by profession and homemaker. Thomas Blanton, age 82, of San Saba, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 11:33 a. m. at the Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg. Graveside services were Saturday at 11:00 a. m. at the Cleveland Cemetery with Sam Wilson officiating, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home. Thomas was born August 22, 1919 in Coleman County to the late Manley F. and Nora Q. Scott Blanton. He was raised in Coleman County where he attended the Buffalo and Cleveland Schools. Thomas married Bessie Evelyn Chamberlain in Killeen, Texas on March 16, 1954. He had been a resident of Lampasas for 30 years before moving to San Saba in July of 2002. An Army veteran of World War II, Thomas was a member of the American Legion and the Church of Christ. He retired in 1977 with Civil Service at Fort Hood as Supervisor of Training Aids. Survivors include a son, Roy Leon Blanton of San Saba; daughter Debra Morash of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; three step-daughters, Yvonne Adams of Weiner, Arkansas, Laverta Cole of Ohio and Connie Owens of Lampasas; four sisters, Fannie Anderson of Florence, Loyce Myers and Myrtle Reece of Coleman and Oneta Lawson of Midland; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Vonda Jean Johnson Gauer was called home on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Coleman Healthcare Center. Private family services are planned. Jean was born December 28, 1931 in Burkett, Texas to Chester and Gracie Windham Jennings. She attended school and graduated from Burkett High School in 1949. Jean worked as a nurse at Santa Anna and Coleman for many years. After raising her three children, Jean dedicated her time to furthering many charitable organizations including the Federation for the Blind, the Disabled Veterans and Native American causes. Jean was married to C. V. Johnson on December 31, 1949 in Coleman County. They were blessed with three children. On September 26, 1980 Jean was married to Robert Gauer, Jr. in Brownsville, Texas. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest daughter Deborah Martin. She is survived by a son Randy and wife Betsey Johnson and daughter Kay and husband Philip Storm all of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Michael and Cheree Martin of Coleman, Misty and David Emler of San Antonio, Chris Scherrer, Kelly Peek, Chester Johnson, Sara and Erin Storm; eight great-grandchildren, Curtis, Christina, Christopher, Peyton, Makaylah, Michael, Daulton and Madison Grace. Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Cain lnselman, 88, of Brownwood, formerly of San Antonio, were held Monday at the Shepherd King Lutheran Church in San Antonio. Burial followed in the Mission Park Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mrs. lnselman died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at a Brownwood nursing facility. She was born July 14, 1914 in Coleman, Texas to the late Walter and Dora Cain. She had been a resident of Brownwood for the past few years moving from San Antonio where she had resided most of her life. While in Brownwood, she was a member of First United Methodist church where she attended the Peggy Boone Bible Class and was a a member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy McCrane and husband, Wayne, of Brownwood and Shirley Sterling and husband, Bill, of Georgetown; four grandchildren; and six-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Virgil (Leona) Alford, age 81, of Holbrook, Arizona passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002, at 8:24 a. m. in Holbrook. Services were graveside Monday at 10 a. m. at the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home. Leona was born November 17, 1920 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to the late Albert Millard and Lucy Jane Wilhoit Morris. She graduated from high school in Oklahoma and married Virgil Alford in Mesa, Arizona on November 18, 1938 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage. Virgil preceded her in death in 1984. She was a resident of Coleman from 1978 until 1984 then moving to Wichita Falls where she resided until July of 2002. Leona was a member of the Christian Church and a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Plumtree of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Harold M. Alford of Cottonwood, Arizona and Kenneth V. Alford of Redding, California; two sisters, Anna Mae Oliver of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Billie Jayne Crismon of Guthrie Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Sylvester A. Crane passed quietly from this life August 23, 2002 at Coleman County Medical Center in Coleman, Texas. Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman was in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Crane was born January 16, 1915 in Garden City, Kansas; attended schools in Clayton, New Mexico and married the former Mable Kennann, also of Clayton. A current resident at Holiday Hill Nursing Home of Coleman, he had been a farmer and rancher at Tucumcari, New Mexico since 1949. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Tucumcari, where he was recently honored as Deacon Emeritus. Mr. Crane is survived
by six children, 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous
other family members and friends. Children include Harold and Barbara

Daniel Howell (Dan) Moser, age 74, of Dallas died Friday, August 23, 2002 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a. m. today (Tuesday) at Valera Cemetery, with Chaplain John Helm of the Blue Knights officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Moser was born January 2, 1928, the son of Virgil C. and Nona Mae Howell Moser. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army and the United States Navy. He worked for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department for 30 years, was a member of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Association and the Blue Knights, Chapter 21, Waxahachie, Texas. Survivors include one uncle, Robert L. Howell of Dallas. Mr. Moser was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be members of the Blue Knights. Albert Blankenship, age 88, of Coleman died Saturday, August 24, 2002, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were 10:00 a. m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial followed in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Blankenship was born December 16, 1913 in Spanish Fort, Oklahoma, a son of Georgia May Blankenship and Dollie Alice Purser Blankenship. He was reared in White Flatt, Texas and attended schools in Trent. He married Annie Florene Blair on March 25, 1935 in Trent . She preceded him in death on September 6, 1989. He later married Dava McCoy Lawrence on December 29, 1991 in Midland. He moved to Coleman in 1981 after living in Midland for many years. He was a route driver for R. C. Cola, worked at the Scarborough Hotel in Midland and was a Maintenance Supervisor with the Midland Independent School District. He had also been a Deacon in the Baptist church while living in Midland. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman. Survivors include his wife, Dava Blankenship of Coleman; one son-in-law, Dean Tedford of Fort Stockton; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Thompson of Midland; four step-daughters, Margaret Burkhart of Coleman, Judy Row of Midland, Billie Simpson of Livingston and Linda Williams of Midland; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gearld Wayne Blankenship; one daughter, Joann Tedford; one brother, Homer Blankenship in 1985 and one sister, Estella May McDonald, on July 22, 2002. Guy W. Thompson, age 87,
of Coleman passed away Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Hendrick Medical Center
in Abilene.
Mr. Thompson was born May 16, 1915 in Guadalupe County, Texas and was a son of the fate George Wilson Thompson and Ella Leona Wright Thompson. He grew up and attended school in Kingsbury, Texas. During World War II he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations. On June 3,1965, he married Jessie Garrett in Odessa. He lived in Monahans and Odessa for many years before moving to Coleman in 1981. He was a member and deacon at Community Baptist Church, and served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons until the year 2000. Survivors include his
wife, Jessie Thompson of Coleman; one daughter, Sheron Elaine Thompson
of Kerrville; one son, Guy W. Thompson, Jr. of Leakey, Texas; one step-daughter,
Pamela (and husband David) Hinds of Coleman; one sister, Thelma Krueger
of Cuero, Texas; nine grandchildren, Cheryl Crouch, Amber Williams, Patrick
Thompson, Travis Thompson, Amanda Spindle, Andrea Bourlon, Ten Wilson,
Jimmy Hinds, Clayton Hinds; and nine great-grandchildren.

Daisy Dean of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2002, after a brief illness. Graveside services were held Thursday at 11:30 a. m. in Greenleaf Cemetery at Brownwood with Dr. Gary Torian officiating, under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood. She was the daughter of the late G. P. and Mattie Guggolz of Brownwood. Daisy was a graduate of Daniel Baker College and a charter member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Dean were former residents of Santa Anna where Mr. Dean was a teacher and coach at the local high school. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret and son-in-law, Richard Letzkus of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one granddaughter, Heather Letzkus of New York City; and eight great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Dean; her brother, G.P. Guggolz, Jr. and her sister, Bertha Guggolz. Margaret was born January 22, 1940 in San Antonio to Frances Lopez Trujillo and the late Daniel Trujillo. She was reared in Brown-wood graduating from Brownwood High School in 1959. She married Lorenzo Trinidad September 26, 1959 in Brownwood and they celebrated forty-two years of marriage. She had been a resident of Grand Prairie since 1967, was a member of the Catholic church and retired from the insurance business. Survivors include her husband, Lorenzo M. Trinidad of Grand Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and William McLaughlin of Grand Prairie; one son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Caroline Trinidad of Derby Shire, England; mother, Frances Trujillo of Grand Prairie; three sisters, Dickey and husband, Raymond Sanchez of Duncanville, Hortense Roman of Humble and Carmel Molina of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Stephanie, Cassandra and Alexandra Lopez of Grand Prairie, George Daniel Trinidad of Derby Shire, England and Jessica McLaughlin of The Colony, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Charles Buck Wheeler, 55, of Brownwood, were held at 10 a. m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Carroll officiating. Interment followed in Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Wheeler died Friday, August 30, 2002 in Abilene. He was born April 27, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. He married Judy Elaine Watson in Brownwood on May 18, 1991. Mr. Wheeler was a truck driver for the Brownwood Bulletin. He had lived in Brownwood for approximately 20 years. He was a Baptist. Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Brownwood; daughter, Debbie Dean and husband, Mike, of Coleman; mother, Wanda Brashear of Stafford, Arizona; sister, Doris Sparacino and husband, Dave, of Malakoff; sister, Evelyn Rice and husband, Don, of Malakoft; brother, Larry Brashear and wife, Laurie, of Stafford, Arizona; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
