Myrtle Bell, 82, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born April 22, 1919, in Whiteflat.  She married William David Bell on May 17, 1936, in Doole.  He preceded her in death in 1988.  Mrs. Bell moved to Odessa in 1948.  She was a homemaker and a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. She was a loving mother and a devoted Christian.

She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Bell; sisters, Ruth Bell and Belle Day; and brothers, Roy Stegal and John Will Rollins.  She is survived by sons, Lee Roy Bell of Odessa and Don Bell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, Lula Duncan and Jo Anne Pitman, both of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Jean Bell of Odessa; brothers, Othoe Stegal of Paris, Texas, and Henry Rollins of Richardson; sister, Mary Curby of Fairview, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p. m. today, July 3, 2001, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves and David Boren officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. 

Lee Craig of Coleman died at Coleman County Medical Center on Monday, July 2, 2001.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman. Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of Community Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery.  Family visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home. He was born in San Angelo in 1916.

He married Evelyn Henderson in 1944 in Coleman County.  He was Coleman County Clerk from 1950 to 1968, a salesman for Clarke & Courts from 1968 to 1978, bookkeeper for Coca Cola from 1981 to 1984 and he also taught school.  He attended the University of Texas, was a state officer in the Lions Club and member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Craig of Coleman; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kerry and Kelley of Sulphur Springs, Karl and Roxanne of Corsicana, Kenneth and Mary of Conroe and Kendall and Shari Craig of Coleman; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Memorials can be made to the donor's favorite charity. 

Kimberly Jackson of Coleman died at her residence at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2001. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a. m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at Walker Funeral Home.  Reverend Billy Roberts, pastor of North Coleman Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rockwood Cemetery.

She was born in 1972 in Midland and had lived in Coleman County since 1979.  She was an L. V. N. and a Baptist.

Survivors include: her husband, Larry Snodgrass of Coleman; one daughter, Kassiday Briane Snodgrass of the home; her parents, Max and Ann Richardson of Coleman; a sister, Sheila Richardson of Coleman; two brothers, Andy Richardson of Brady and Lee Roy Richardson of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandparents, Johnny and Nancy Snodgrass of Mullin; grandmother, Dora Snodgrass; great-grandmother, Florence French.

Essie Davenport, age 87, of Coleman, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Monday, July 9, 2001 at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Davenport was born September 23, 1913 in Coleman, Texas and was the daughter of Modie and Martha Cope Hughes.  She grew up in Coleman County and attended school at Loss Creek.  She was married to O. A. Armstrong in 1931 and to Clarence Davenport in 1978.  She worked as a clerk at Anthony's and J. C. Penney's and also worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Coleman.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Davenport of Coleman; one daughter, Maxie Armstrong Morris of Coleman; four grandchildren, Perry Armstrong of Sweetwater, Danny (and wife Lindi) Armstrong of Coleman, Marcia Armstrong of Coleman and Misty (and husband Jerry) Johnson of Coleman; eight great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Armstrong, in 1999.

Athelene Quinn, age 80, of Coleman, died Monday, July 9, 2001 at Abilene Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Quinn was born October 31, 1920 in McCulloch County, Texas and was a daughter of David L. and Ruby Willbanks Snodgrass.  She moved to Coleman County as a small child and graduated from Coleman High School in 1938 and attended Mary Hardin Baylor College.  On August 2, 1939 she married J. W. Quinn, Jr. in Coleman.  She and her husband farmed and ranched in Coleman County.  She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, a charter member of the Town and Country Garden Club, Mutual Improvement Club, President of the South Ward PTA several years and formerly was a Den Mother for Pack #26.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Council, served as President of the United Methodist Women, was a member of the Bettie Morris Circle and the Dunson Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, J. W. Quinn, Jr.; two sons, James D. (and wife Shelley) Quinn and Franklin W. Quinn all of Coleman; one daughter, Mary Jo Quinn Reynolds (and husband John) of Sierra Madre, California; grandchildren, Jill Marice Thornton of Fort Worth, Andrea Renea Quinn of San Marcos, Texas; Chris Goodwin (and wife Nanniece) of Alvarado, Texas; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Zena Goodwin.

Mrs. Charlie (Lena Marie) Wilkinson, 83 of Anchorage, Alaska died in a Norman, Oklahoma hospital early Tuesday, July 10, 2001.  Funeral services will be at 3:30 p. m. Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Walker Funeral Home in Coleman with Rev. Kermit Sorrells, retired Methodist minister, officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.  Family visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home. 

She was born in 1917 and married Charlie Wilkinson in 1938 in Ada, Oklahoma. She lived in Tulsa from 1952 to 1999, was a housewife and bookkeeper. Survivors include: two daughters - Delores Logan of Charlotte, North Carolina and Charlene Dickinson of Anchorage, Alaska; one son - Robert Wilkinson of Oceanside, California; one sister - Ida Belle Sturn of Kansas City. 

Hershell Wilson of Dallas, a lifetime resident of Coleman, died at 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.  Funeral services are pending at Walker Funeral Home.

Hershell was a lifetime Coleman County resident.  He graduated from Mozelle High School then graduated from Texas Tech University.  He was a rancher, Elder and member of the Presbyterian Church, Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Coleman Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Netta Wilson of Dallas; one daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Bill Moody of Dallas; one son and daughter-in-law, McCord and Waverly Wilson of Dallas; two sisters, Doreece Ford and Sue Hemphill of Glen Cove Route; one brother, Glen Wilson of Gouldbusk; one granddaughter.

Rosie Lee Hale of West Memphis, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 11, 2001.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, July 17th at Anthony's Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis, Arkansas.  She was born in 1921 in Frenchman Bayou, Arkansas.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. 

Survivors include seven daughters and five sons.  She is the mother of Barbara Brown of Coleman.

W. N. "Newt" Bains died July 12, 2001, in Midland, Texas.  Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a. m. Monday, July 16, 2001 at Talpa Cemetery in Talpa, Texas, with Pastor Stan Whites of Rankin, Texas officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Bains was born September 17, 1917 in Oplin, Callahan County, Texas. He married Marie White in Winters, Texas on October 26, 1940.  They resided in Talpa, Texas from 1940 to 1995.  They resided at Christian Village in San Angelo, Texas until December 1998, at which time they moved to Midland.  Newt worked for Mabee Oil and ranched in Talpa, and was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Talpa.

Newt is survived by his wife, Marie Bains of Midland; his daughter Ludie Rudolph and husband Wayne of Fort Worth; his son, Roger Bains and wife Karen of Rankin; his grandson, Bradley Bains and wife Cheryl of Midland and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brensen Bains; his sister, Dorothy Howerton of Hico, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane Bryson of Winters died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at her home.  Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15th at Winters Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

She was born in Abilene in 1954 but had lived in Winters most of her life.  She married Johnny Bryson in 1992 in Coleman.  He preceded her in death in 1996.  She was a nurse's aide and a homemaker.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her mother, Mary Ozbirn of Winters; a son, Justin Bryson of Winters; three brothers, Franky Merrill of San Angelo, Don Ozbirn of Ballinger and Chris Ozbirn of Winters; two sisters, Cindy Barrow of Ballinger and Betty Bailey of Winters; a sister-in-law, Gloria Haas of Fisk.

Aubrey Leo Feeler of Abilene and formerly of Voss and Coleman, died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Coronado Nursing Center in Abilene.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p. m. Monday, July 16, 2001 at Talpa Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Feeler was born December 6, 1927 in Valera, Texas, a son of Aubrey Ophia Feeler and Susan Era Lee Thomason Feeler.  He was raised in Voss and attended schools in Voss, Mozelle and Howard-Payne University in Brownwood.  He was born with physical problems that kept him in and out of the Scottish-Rite Hospital until he was thirteen years old.  He helped on the family farm and was a former member of the Voss Methodist Church.

Survivors include four sisters, Ila Pearl Witt of Oklahoma, Willeen Roberts and Nita Holtz of Abilene, Hazel Burns of Breckenridge; one brother, Edward Thomas Feeler of Clyde; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mr. Feeler was preceded in death by his parents.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the funeral home.

J. D. "Tubby" Grimes of Novice died Monday, July 16, 2001 at Abilene Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Thursday, July 19th at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Baker Rudolph officiating.  Burial will follow at Rough Creek Cemetery.

He was born in Coleman County, grew up in the Novice area and graduated from Novice High School.  In 1962 he married Nancy Nixon in Blanket, Texas.  He lived in Midland for many years but returned to Novice 24 years ago where he was a rancher and contract pumper.  He was a member of the Novice United Methodist Church and was Chief of the Novice Volunteer Fire Department.  Survivors include his wife, Nancy Grimes of Novice; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Robbie Grimes of Ovalo; one sister, Jane Matthews of Honey Grove, Texas; three grandchildren.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p. m to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home.  Memorials can be made to the Novice Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 21, Novice, Texas 79538.
