Mr. Snodgrass was born in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1927.  He then graduated from Daniel Baker College in Brownwood and Hardin - Simmons University in Abilene.  He was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 1983.  In 1931, weighing 206 pounds, Mr. Snodgrass set a record in the 100-yard dash of 9.7 seconds during a track meet in San Marcos on a dirt surface.  That record stood until 1956 when olympic champion Bobby Morrow broke it.  Mr. Snodgrass was a teacher and coach in Pioneer, Blanket and Hawley.  In 1943, Mr. Snodgrass became the principal of East Elementary School in Brownwood.  After serving in the U. S. Naval Reserves.  He was a Mason, a Brownwood Rotary Club member for 33 years, a member of Heart of Texas Shrine Club, and Victory Class at First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Snodgrass of Brownwood; one daughter, Linda Bolin of San Angelo; three stepsons, Roger Richey of New Braunfels, Robert Richey of Austin, and James Richey of Arlington; one brother, James Snodgrass of Coleman; one sister, Flora Cook of Coleman; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
