Mrs. A. N. McLeod, 68, passed away at her home in the southwest part of town just before noon Tuesday, after several days of suffering from bronchial complications. Funeral Services were conducted at the residence at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, and interment made in the Santa Anna Cemetery, Rev. Homer Vanderpool of Ballinger, former pastor of the Methodist Church here delivered the funeral coalition assisted by the present pastor, Rev. William E. Fisher. The pall bearers were Jimmy Lee Brown of Brady, Elom Cheatam of Mineral Wells, Valton Royall of San Saba County, Jess Phillips, Mace Blanton, and Leonard Phillips of Santa Anna. Deceased is survived by four children, Mrs. Nina Phillips, Santa Anna, Mrs. Alma Magness, Brownwood, Clyde McLeod of San Saba County, and Mrs. Sallie Scarborough of Salt Gap, in Concho County. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. McLeod was born June 9, 1867 in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and came to Cooper in Delta County, Texas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Little in early childhood. She was married to A. N. McLeod in Cooper, Texas in 1883, and came to Santa Anna in 1899 where she has lived since. Her husband died about nine years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church since childhood and lived a consecrated Christian life. (Santa Anna News, Coleman County, Santa Anna, Texas, February 1, 1936.) |
