Silver Star; served 8 ½ months overseas; holds rank of private,
first class.

VAUGHAN, GAITHER WILSON
Gaither Wilson Vaughan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Vaughan, entered
the Army Oct. 31, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Salerno, Cassino;
was attached to 36th Division; killed in action June 1, 1944, in Italy;
awarded Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross posthumously.

Grady Vaughan, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Vaughan, Sr., entered
the Army Oct. 16, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Salerno; awarded
Purple Heart; overseas seven months; was attached to 36th Infantry Division;
was private, first class; discharged.

L. F. Vaughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Vaughn, entered Army July 21,
1942; left for Asiatic-Pacific area March 22, 1944; fought at New Guinea,
Northern Solomons and Luzon; awarded Bronze Arrowhead and Philippine Liberation
Ribbon; held rank of master sergeant.

H. W. Velo, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Velo, entered the Army Feb. 26,
1940; sent to Pacific in September 1942; fought in Guadalcanal, New Guinea;
was attached to 528th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion; was corporal;
discharged June 23, 1945.

L. W. Velo, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Velo, was inducted into the Army
June 26, 1939; sailed for ETO in January, 1941; fought at Metz, France,
Luxembourg and Normandy with Seventh Engineers; awarded Bronze Star; held
rank of sergeant when discharged June 26, 1945; re-enlisted.

Morris Joe Velo, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Velo, entered Army July
12, 1941; sailed overseas in November 1943; spent 19 months in Europe while
attached to the 13th Infantry; awarded four battle stars; discharged Feb.
26, 1946; re-enlisted; now stationed at San Antonio.

Army March 18, 1941; overseas 33 months; fought in New Guinea, Bismarck
Archipelago, Philippines; attached to the 227th Anti-Aircraft Artillery
Searchlight Battalion; was technical sergeant; discharged.

Durward L. Vickers, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Vickers, entered the
Army Air Corps July 31, 1942; sent to Pacific Jan. 4, 1944; fought on New
Guinea, Philippines, Luzon, Bismarck Archipelago; was attached to 674th
Bombardment Squadron; discharged as staff sergeant Jan. 2, 1946.
