Raymond Clifton Machen, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Machen, entered the Army Air Corps Feb. 20, 1945; received training at Camp Fannin; sent to Pacific Theater of Operations July 27, 1945; attached to 13th Air Force; is corporal; now stationed on Luzon.
 
MANESS, CHARLES BILLY
Charles Billy Maness, son of Uless Maness, entered the Army June 4, 1943; sent to ETO July 13, 1944, for 17 months’ duty; participated in four major battles; awarded Purple Heart; served with 83rd Infantry Division; discharged as corporal on Dec. 4, 1945.
 
MARKLAND, HORACE LOWELL
Horace Lowell Markland, son of H. L. Markland, entered the Army Air Corps June 16, 1942; received training at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, and in Oklahoma; killed in training while stationed in Chickasha, Okla., Oct. 3, 1942.
 
MARKLAND, ROBERT LORRAINE
Robert Lorraine Markland, son of H. L. Markland, entered the Army Feb. 27, 1941; sent to Pacific June 7, 1944, for 16 months’ service in Hawaii; was attached to Second Signal Service Battalion; held the rank of major when discharged on Feb. 14, 1946.
 
MARKWOOD, FRANCIS H.
Francis H. Markwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Markwood entered the Army in December, 1943; sent to ETO in October, 1944; killed in action during Rhine River campaign; was private first class; awarded Purple Heart posthumously.
 
MARRS, JOHN WAYNE
John Wayne Marrs, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Marrs, entered the Army in May, 1945; trained at Fort Bliss, Fort Riley, Kan., Fort Ord, Calif.; sent to Panama Canal region in January, 1946; is serving with Army Anti-Aircraft Division; now stationed at Toboga Island in Pacific.
 
MARTIN, ALLEN H.
Allen H. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Martin, entered the Army June 7, 1942; sent to ETO May 5, 1943, for 31 months’ duty; fought in Northern France; awarded Good Conduct Medal; EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars; discharged as staff sergeant in January, 1945.
 
MARTIN, BILLY
Billy Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Martin was inducted into the Navy in March, 1943; sailed for the Pacific in April, 1944; fought on Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Leyte, Lingayen Gulf, East China Sea, Okinawa; is now stationed at Philadelphia, Pa., as seaman first class.
 
MARTIN, CURTIS EWING
Curtis Ewing Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin, entered the Army Feb. 21, 1945; trained at Camp Hood, Texas; sent to Pacific Aug. 21, 1945; was attached to 199th Ordnance Depot Company; is technical sergeant; now stationed on Saipan.
 
MARTIN, HENRY IRVIN
Henry Irvin Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Martin, entered the Army Dec. 27, 1944; sent to Pacific July 2, 1945; was attached to 98th Division and General MacArthur’s Honor Guard Company; awarded Expert Infantry Badge; is corporal; now stationed in Tokyo.
 
MARTIN, HERBERT L.
Herbert L. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin, entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 14, 1941; sent overseas March 4, 1941, for 34 months’ service; served in Caribbean Theater; attached to 25th Bombardment Group; discharged as technical sergeant in July, 1945.
 
MARTIN, JAMES FELTON
James Felton Martin, son of Rev, and Mrs. J. H. Martin, entered the Army Air Corps Nov. 5, 1942; received extensive training in the United States before going to ETO Jan. 3, 1945; fought in Rhineland, Germany; awarded Air Medal with cluster; holds rank of first lieutenant.
 
MARTIN, LOUIS J.
Louis J. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Martin, entered the Army Air Corps in July 1943; received training in Texas. Kansas and Arizona; was sent overseas in September, 1945; spent 12 months in the Pacific; was discharged in September, 1946, as corporal.
 
MARTIN, ROSS S., JR.
Ross S. Martin, Jr., son of Mrs. Ross Martin, Sr., entered the Army Air Forces Oct. 3, 1942; was sent overseas and served with 15th Air Force in Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rome-Arno, Northern France, Balkars, Rhineland, Apennines, Po Valley; discharged as staff sergeant Sept. 9, 1945.
 
MARTIN, WILLIAM O., JR.
William O. Martin, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Martin, entered the Army June 5, 1942; trained at Fort Warren, Wyo.; sent to Pacific Sept. 21, 1942: spent 38 months overseas: awarded Victory Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon.
 
MARTINEZ, GEORGE C.
George C. Martinez, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Martinez, entered the Army May 5, 1941; was sent overseas Aug. 4. 1941: fought on Bataan; participated in Bataan “Death March”; held prisoner by Japs from April 9, 1942, to Sept. 12, 1945; discharged on Feb. 4, 1946.
 
MASK, EARLE STEPHEN
Earle Stephen Mask, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam D. Mask, entered the Merchant Marine Jan. 9, 1945; was sent overseas in June 1949: served in both Atlantic and Pacific on tankers SS Golden Hill, SS Tobias F. Stanbury and SS Chantilly; made voyages to numerous foreign countries.
 
MASK, SAM A.
Sam A. Mask, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam D. Mask, entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 27, 1943; sent to the Pacific Dec. 5, 1944: flew missions over Jap held territory; awarded Air Medal with cluster and DFC: credited with shooting down Jap Zero; was staff sergeant when discharged.
 
MAXWELL, LOWELL C.
Lowell C. Maxwell, son of Mrs. Mary Maxwell entered the Army in October, 1942; sent to ETO in February, 1944: fought in Normandy; served with Paratroopers, 82nd Airborne Division; killed in action June 11, 1944; awarded Purple Heart posthumously; was first lieutenant.
 
MAY, BENJAMIN MILFORD
Benjamin Milford May, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. May, entered the Naval Air Corps Dec. 10, 1941; sailed overseas in December, 1942; served 12 months in Alaska, seven months in Southwest Pacific; commended for rescuing drowning seaman; was lieutenant when discharged in October, 1945.
 
MEDCALF, ANDY JACKSON
Andy Jackson Medcalf entered the Army in 1942; sent to Pacific in May 1942; fought on Guadalcanal, Solomons, Luzon; spent 7 months overseas; awarded Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars and Good Conduct Medal.
 
MEEKS, NATHAN H.
Nathan H. Meeks, son of F. L. Meeks, was inducted into the Army in February, 1945; trained at Camp Hood, Fort Ord, and Camp Stoneman, Calif.; is stationed at Camp Stoneman at the present time; holds the rank of sergeant.
 
METTS, HARVEY WOODROW
Harvey Woodrow Metts, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Metts, entered the Navy Seabees in May, 1944; received training at Camp Peary, Va.; sailed overseas in January, 1945; fought on Okinawa; was across 11 months; held the rank of fireman first class.
 
MILLER, EMMETT D.
Emmett D. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Miller, entered the Army April 18, 1944; sent to ETO Jan. 19, 1945; fought in battle of the Rhine; spent 18 months overseas; awarded ETO Ribbon, two battle stars; discharged as private first class in May, 1946.
 
MILLER, HENRY E.
Henry F. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Miller, entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 1, 1942; received training at Duncan Field, Texas; sent to CBI on March 19, 1942; participated in two major battles; spent 33 months overseas; holds the rank of sergeant.
 
MILLER, J. M., JR.
J. M. Miller, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Miller, entered the United States Navy July 2, 1943; trained at San Diego, Calif.; sent to Pacific Oct. 3, 1943; fought in Solomons; spent 22 months overseas; was storekeeper second class when discharged on May 2, 1946.
 
MILLER, MORRIS
Morris Miller, son of Mrs. J. A. B. Miller, entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 22, 1942; sent to ETO on Nov. 1, 1942; fought in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines, Po Valley; spent 32 months overseas; was sergeant when discharged on Sept. 7, 1945.
 
MILLER, THOMAS W.
Thomas W. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Miller, entered the Army Air Corps Dec. 7, 1939; trained at Kelly Field, Texas; sent to ETO Jan. 4, 1945; fought in Rhineland; spent nine months overseas; was master sergeant; discharged in November, 1945; re-enlisted.
 
MILLS, JOE DAN, SR.
Joe Dan Mills, Sr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Mills, was inducted into the Marine Corps Aug. 21, 1945; received initial and advanced training at San Diego, Calif.; was discharged from service Sept. 19, 1945, while holding the rank of private.
 
MITCHELL, OMAR O’DELL
Omar O’Dell Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Mitchell, entered the Navy Dec. 30, 1942; sailed to Pacific in September, 1944, for 12 months’ service; fought in Philippines and Okinawa; served aboard USS Gallatin, USS Goshen; was pharmacist’s mate second class when discharged.
 
MITCHELL, MARION J. T.
Marion J. T. Mitchell, son of John T. Mitchell, entered the United States Army Oct. 17, 1945; received training at Fort Lewis, Washington; held the rank of private, first class, when honorably discharged from service June 12, 1946.
 
MITTEL, CARROL DUANE
Carrol Duane Mittel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edd Mittel, entered the Army June 27, 1945; received training at Camp Roberts, Calif., Fort Knox, Ky.; attached to Third Regiment; holds rank of corporal; now stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

W. F. Mittel, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Mittel, Sr., entered the Army Air Corps June 25, 1943; sent to ETO in August, 1944; credited with 50 combat missions; awarded Air Medal, three clusters, Presidential Citation with cluster; holds rank of staff sergeant.
 
MODAWELL, JOHN HENRY
John Henry Modawell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Modawell, entered the Marine Corps Dec. 13, 1943; sent to Pacific March 23, 1945 for 10 months’ service; held the rank of corporal when honorably discharged Feb. 18, 1946.
 
MONEYHUN, BOBBY
Bobby Moneyhun, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Moneyhun, entered the Army in November, 1940; sent to ETO April 13, 1943; fought in Salerno and Anzio; spent 17 months overseas; awarded Purple Heart; was attached to 36th Division; holds rank of corporal.
 
MONEYHUN, DONALD A.
Donald A. Moneyhun, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Moneyhun, entered the Army Nov. 18, 1942; sent to ETO March, 1944; spent 21 months overseas; fought in Normandy, Germany; awarded Purple Heart with cluster; was attached to 102nd Division; is private, first class.
 
MONROE, HOMER WELDON
Homer Weldon Monroe, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Monroe, entered the Army Aug. 10, 1942; sent to ETO Oct. 13, 1944; fought in Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe; spent 15 months overseas; awarded Bronze Star; served with 78th Division; holds rank of sergeant.
 
MOORE, EARL
Earl Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moore, entered the Army May 4, 1944; trained at Camp Wolters, Texas, Camp Robinson, Ark.; received injuries while stationed at Camp Robinson, Ark.; was corporal when discharged April 26, 1946.
 
MOORE, JIM L.
Jim L. Moore, son of Mrs. Lena Moore. entered the Army Feb. 27, 1942; sent to ETO in August, 1942; was attached to 830th Signal Service Battalion; held the rank of staff sergeant when honorably discharged from service in November 1945.

John T. Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moore, was inducted into the Army in July, 1942; trained at Camp Pickett, Virginia; was sent overseas Feb. 8, 1943; spent 33 months in the European sector with an ordnance unit; discharged as corporal on Nov. 7, 1945.

Owen N. Moore, son of Mrs. Lena Moore, entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 19, 1942; received training at Goodfellow Field, Texas; Davis Field, Ariz., and in Idaho and California; held the rank of staff sergeant when discharged Dec. 7, 1945.

Raymond Moore, son of R. H. Moore, entered the Army Oct. 8, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Italy, France, Germany; spent 29 months overseas; was attached to 142nd Infantry, 36th Division; awarded Bronze Star; was staff sergeant; discharged July 28, 1945.
 
MOORE, VERNON L.
Vernon L. Moore, of Fort Worth, son of Mrs. E. E. Keller of Coleman, was inducted into the United States Army and served as a member of a tank battalion; was honorably discharged from service in November, 1945; held the rank of private, first class.
 
MOORMAN, JAMES RAYMOND
James Raymond Moorman, son of Mrs. H. E. Moorman, entered the Navy Jan. 21, 1943; sent to ETO Dec. 15, 1944; fought in France; spent 24 months overseas; held the rank of fire controlman, second class; discharged Nov. 14, 1945.

C. O. Morgan, Jr., son of C. O. Morgan, Sr., entered the United States Navy April 27, 1943; received training at San Diego, Calif., and at other ports in Oregon, California and Washington; held the rank of ship’s cook, second class, when discharged March 4, 1946.
 
MORGAN, FINIS MABREY
Finis Mabrey Morgan, son of Audie M. Morgan, entered the Navy July 15, 1942; sailed to Pacific March 9, 1943 for 32 months’ service; fought in Solomons, Saipan, Okinawa; held the rank of boatsswain’s mate, first class, when discharged Dec. 21, 1945.
 
MORGAN, MARRION CECIL
Marrion Cecil Morgan, son of Mrs. C. J. Burrow and E. F. Morgan, entered Army June 1, 1940; sailed to Pacific Aug. 1, 1941; fought on Saipan, Kiska, and other Pacific islands; was attached to 19th and 804th Engineers; spent 41 months overseas; awarded life-saving medal; discharged on July 22, 1945.
 
MORGAN, VIRGIL L.
Virgil L. Morgan, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Morgan, entered the Army Jan. 27, 1943; sent to Pacific Theater of Operations May 7, 1945; fought on Luzon; spent eight months overseas: he’d the rank of corporal when discharged Dec. 10, 1945.
 
MORRIS, CHARLES A.
Charles A. Morris, son of C. L. Morris, entered the Army in November. 1940; sailed for ETO Sept. 1, 1944; participated in battle of Belgian Bulge; spent nine months in German POW camp; awarded Purple Heart with two clusters; was attached to Second Infantry Division; is captain.

James Lee Morrison, son of Mrs. Annie McFarland, entered the Army Feb. 11, 1943; sent to Pacific June 8, 1943; fought on Luzon, Negros, New Britain; spent 30 months overseas; served with Medical Detachment, 40th Division; was sergeant when discharged Nov. 23, 1945.

John Ray Morrison, son of Mrs. Annie McFarland, entered the Army Feb. 13, 1942; sent to Pacific May 8, 1942; fought on Okinawa; served 40 months overseas; served with Quartermaster Corps; discharged as private first class on Oct. 5, 1945.
