EDENS, EDWARD CLYDE, JR.
Edward Clyde Edens, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Edens, Sr., entered the Navy Nov. 10, 1943; trained at Newport, R. I, and Harvard University; sailed overseas Sept. 7, 1944; spent 20 months in the Pacific sector; held rank of lieutenant (jg); discharged May 12, 1946.
 
EDINGTON, ALTON D.
Alton D. Edington, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Edington, was inducted into Army Jan. 29, 1945; trained at Camp Roberts, Calif.; left for Pacific Aug. 6, 1945; served 12 months overseas with First Engineers; discharged June 23, 1946 while holding rank of corporal.
 
EDINGTON, BILLY HAROLD
Billy Harold Edington, son of Mrs. Alice M. Edington, was inducted into Army April 8, 1946; received initial training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas; is now stationed at Fort McLellan, Alabama; holds rank of private.
 
EDINGTON, STANCIL
Stancil Edington, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Edington, entered the Army Jan. 17, 1942; trained at Sheppard Field; left for Pacific Feb. 17, 1942, fought in New Guinea and Dutch East Indies; served 38 months overseas; attached to adjutant General’s department; discharged Sept. 29, 1945, as technical sergeant.
 
EDWARDS, WESLEY L.
Wesley L. Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Edwards, entered the Army April 8, 1946; received training at Fort McClellan, Ala.; sent to Pacific Aug. 8, 1946; now stationed in Korea; attached to Company B, 30th Battalion, Third Regiment; is private, first class.
 
ELLIOTT, CURTIS P.
Curtis P. Elliott, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Elliott, entered the Army Oct. 22, 1943; sent to Pacific April 27, 1944 for 20 months’ service; fought on Luzon, New Guinea, Philippines, Bismarck Archipelago; was attached to Seventh Cavalry Service Troop; discharged.
 
ELLIOTT, JOE MACK
Joe Mack Elliott, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Elliott, entered Army Air Corps Oct. 31, 1942; trained at San Diego, Mather Field, Calif., and Chanute Field, Ill.; awarded Victory Medal and American Theater Medal; discharged Feb. 22, 1946, while holding the rank of corporal.
 
ELLIOTT, JOE T.
Joe T. Elliott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Tune, entered the Army Feb. 10, 1942; received training in California, Nevada, Oregon; sent to ETO for 24 months’ service; was attached to 62nd Service Group; awarded two battle stars; held rank of corporal when discharged Oct. 11, 1945.
 
ELLIOTT, SAMUEL M.
Samuel M. Elliott, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Elliott, entered the Army March 17, 1941; sent to Pacific March 20, 1943; fought on Luzon, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago; overseas 30 months: attached to 158th Infantry Regiment: was staff sergeant; discharged.
 
ENGLAND, ALFORD
Alford England, son of Mrs. M. L. England, entered the Navy Jan. 26, 1944; sailed to Pacific in May, 1944 for 19 months’ service; served with Submarine Squadron 24; held, rank of motor machinist’s mate, second class; discharged Jan. 23, 1946.
 
ENGLAND, CALVIN
Calvin England, son of Mrs. M. L. England, entered the Army Dec. 12, 1940; sent to Pacific in January, 1944; fought on Philippines; overseas 18 months; was attached to 115th Engineer’s Battalion; discharged as corpora], Nov. 30, 1945.
 
ENGLAND, MALCOLM
Malcolm England, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee England, entered Navy March 3, 1944; sailed to Pacific Oct. 5, 1944; fought on Leyte, Luzan, Okinawa, Philippines; 12 months overseas; served aboard USS Dyson, which received Presidential Unit Citation; was coxswain; discharged Dec. 15, 1945.
 
ENGLAND, RALPH
Ralph England, son of Mrs. M. L. England, entered the Army Feb. 5, 1942; received training at Fort Sam Houston, Camp Barkeley, William Beaumont Hospital, Fort Bliss, Texas, Camp Robinson, Ark.; attached to 94th Station Hospital; discharged as corporal.
 
EPPERSON, GEORGE H.
George H. Epperson, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Epperson, entered the Army Nov. 25, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Salerno, Cassino, Rome-Arno; awarded Purple Heart; prisoner of Germans 12 months; technical sergeant in 142nd Division; discharged.
 
EPPLER, L. W.
L. W. Eppler, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Eppler, entered the Army Sept. 8, 1944; sent to Pacific March 16,1945; fought in Philippines, Luzon; 13 months overseas; was attached to 302nd Cavalry Division; held rank of sergeant when discharged April 16, 1946.
 
ESTES, BENNIE CECIL
Bennie Cecil Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Estes, entered the Army Air Corps June 17, 1945; received training at Camp Roberts, Calif., Fort Benning, Ga., Camp Khmer, N. J.: sent to ETO in June, 1946; now serving with a Paratroop Division in Europe.
 
ESTES, ELDON E.
Eldon E. Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Estes, was inducted into Army Dec. 26, 1944: trained at Camp Hood and Fort Benning Ga.; left for Pacific Sept. 19, 1945; served 12 months overseas with Paratroopers: now stationed in Japan with Army of occupation; ranks as sergeant.
 
ESTES, JOE F.
Joe F. Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Estes, was inducted into Army July 9, 1943; left for ETO in November, 1944; fought in Central Europe and Rhineland; served 16½ months overseas with 413th Field Artillery Group; discharged April 2, 1946, as corporal.
 
ESTES, ROBERT LEE
Robert Lee Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Drury Estes, entered the Army Air Corps Sept. 8, 1944; sent to Pacific Feb. 12, 1945; fought on Okinawa; spent 11 months overseas; was corporal; attached to 10th Army, 24th Corps; discharged Jan. 10, 1946.
 
ESTES, SAMUEL H.
Samuel H. Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Estes, entered Air Corps Aug. 24. 1942; trained at Kearns, Utah, Ontario, Calif., Albuquerque, New Mexico, and San Antonio; served with 610th Bomb Unit; discharged March 13, 1946; ranked as staff sergeant.
 
EVANS, LAVADA
Lavada Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Hopper, enlisted in Women’s Army Corps April 12, 1944; received training at Camp Oglethorpe, Ga., Camp Plauche, La.; held the rank of sergeant when honorably discharged Nov. 1, 1945.
 
EVANS, LEONARD N.
Leonard N. Evans, son of Mrs. Josie Evans, entered the Army Sept. 3, 1941: sent to Pacific Theater of Operations Oct. 3, 1941 for 59 months’ service; imprisoned by Japs three years, three months: holds the’ rank of corporal; now stationed in Manila, Philippine Islands.
 
EVANS, LE ROY
Le Roy Evans, son of Mrs. Josie Evans, entered the Army Air Corps Sept. 17, 1942: sent to ETO Feb. 2, 1944; fought in Normandy, France, air offensive over Europe; 28 months overseas; was attached to 385th Fighter Squadron: was staff sergeant; discharged.
 
EVANS, WARREN M.
Warren M. Evans, son of Mrs. Josie Evans, entered the Army Air Corps July 3, 1940; sent to ETO May 17, 1944; fought in Rome-Arno, North Apennines, Pa Valley, France: 25 months overseas; awarded Presidential Unit Citation; served with 12th Air Force; is corporal.
 
EWING, VERNON BEAL
Vernon Beal Ewing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Ewing, entered Navy Aug. 30, 1942; trained at San Diego, Calif.: left for Pacific in April 1943; participated in two major battles: served 20 months overseas with Fleet Airwing 2; discharged Oct. 19, 1943; held rank of aviation machinist, third class.
