James Alva Byers, son of W. R. Byers, entered the United States Marines

Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands; overseas 22 months; was corporal attached to
Third Marine Division; discharged Dec. 13, 1945.

BYERS, ROBERT E.
Robert B. Byers, son of Mrs. Meek Byers, was inducted into the Army
May 5, 1942; left for ETO April 29, 1943; fought in Salerno, Italy and
Normandy invasion; attached to 337th Engineers; released to inactive status
in February, 1946; holds rank of captain in Regular Army.

Leo Vandoll Byrd, son of Willie O. Byrd, was inducted into the Army
Air Corps Nov. 20, 1945: received training at Scott Field, Illinois; served
as a radio mechanic and with a communications division; discharged as private
in August, 1946.

Robert H. Byrne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Byrne, entered the Army
Air Corps May 16, 1944; sent to Pacific April 8, 1945 for eight months’
service; awarded Air Medal, two battle stars; was flight officer in Air
Transport Command; discharged Jan. 19, 1946.
