Archie Byrl Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Adams, was inducted into
Navy Sept. 18, 1943; left for Pacific Dec. 13, 1943; fought on Gilberts,
Marshalls, Guam and Philippines; attached to USS William P. Biddle; still
in service, aboard the USS Repose in China.

Hollis Durwood Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Adams, entered Navy
Oct. 18, 1942; left for Pacific June 3, 1942; participated in numerous
battles in Pacific; served 24 months overseas; ranked as chief yeoman;
discharged May 10, 1946; re-enlisted same day; now stationed at US Naval
Repair Base, New Orleans, Louisiana.

J. T. Allcorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Allcorn, I was inducted into
Army Dec. 11, 1942; trained at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, Mount Vernon, Illinois
Fort Custer, Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona; discharged Feb. 21, 1946; ranked
as corporal.

Monroe A. Allcorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. All-corn, entered Army
Air Force Feb. 13, 1942; left for ETO Nov. 24, 1942; fought in Rhineland;
served 35 months overseas in Quartermaster Division; discharged Nov. 12,
1945; ranked as sergeant.

D. G. Allen, son of R. D. Allen, was inducted into the Navy Aug. 30,
1944; left for Pacific Jan. 13, 1945; fought on Leyte and Okinawa; served
15 months overseas; awarded Philippine Liberation Medal and Asiatic Campaign
Medal; held rank of seaman, first class.

Germany; served 19 months overseas; ranked as staff sergeant.

Marshall H. Altom, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Altom, was inducted into
the Marines May 6, 1942; trained at San Diego, Calif., and Quantico, Va.;
left for overseas July 4, 1942; served 39 months in Europe and the Pacific;
discharged May 7, 1946; ranked as sergeant.

William A. Alvey, son of Mrs. Myrtle Alvey, was inducted into the Army
in November, 1940; trained at Camp Bowie, Camp Blanding, Fla., and Camp
Edwards, Mass.; left for ETO April 2, 1943; fought at Salerno; served five
months overseas; awarded Purple Heart and Silver Star; is staff sergeant.

Darwin H. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Almer Anderson, entered the
Army Nov. 19, 1942; left for Pacific area on Feb. 16, 1944; fought on Leyte
and Okinawa; served 11 months overseas; awarded Bronze Arrowhead and two
Bronze Stars; held the rank of corporal.

Jim Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Matt Anderson, was inducted into
the Army July 18, 1941; trained at Camp Polk, La.; left for ETO Sept. 5,
1943; fought in Normandy, France, Rhineland and Ardennes; served 25 months
overseas with Third Armored Division; awarded Bronze Star; discharged on
Oct. 18, 1945.

ARMSTRONG, MELVIN L.
Melvin L. Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Doggett, entered the
Army Air Force Jan. 1, 1942; left for ETO Nov. 24, 1942; fought in Rhineland,
Central Europe and Northern France; served 34 months overseas while attached
to Eighth Air Force; awarded Distinguished Unit Badge; discharged in October,
1945; ranked as sergeant.

ARNOLD, EDWARD
Edward Arnold, son of Mrs. Vina Jennings, entered the Army Air Corps
in July, 1941; trained at Lowry Field, Colo., Luke Field, Ariz., and Wendover
Field, Utah; killed Dec. 29, 1943, near Great Salt Lake, Utah, when two
bombers collided in mid air; was sergeant when killed.

Richard Cummins Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Arnold, was inducted
into the Army Jan. 28, 1943; trained at St. Petersburg, Fla., and Las Vegas,
Nev.; left for Pacific in September, 1944; fought on Guam; served 18 months
overseas; discharged in February, 1946; ranked as corporal.

Billy Gay Arrant, son of Mrs. Virgie Arrant, entered the Army Dec.
5, 1942; trained at Sheppard Field, Harlingen, Laredo, and Fort Myers,
Fla.; served as gunnery instructor at Tyndall Field, Florida; discharged
Feb. 13, 1946; held the rank of sergeant.

James H. Arrant, son of Mrs. Virgie Arrant, entered the Army Air Corps
Aug. 5, 1942; left for ETO in January, 1944; fought In Normandy, Brittainy,
France and Germany; served 11 months overseas with 574th Bomb Squadron;
awarded DFC and Air Medal with 12 clusters; discharged as staff sergeant.

Gayden E. Ashford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashford, entered Air Corps
Sept. 15, 1943; trained at Buckley Field, Cob., Kingman, Ariz., and Avon
Park, Fla.; left for ETO Jan. 20, 1945; fought at North Apennines and Rhineland;
served five months overseas; awarded Air Medal; is staff sergeant.

90th Infantry; discharged Nov. 18, 1945; ranked as technician, fifth grade.
