In 2004, a series of interesting articles, about life in Coleman County, began to appear in the Coleman Chronicle and Democrat-Voice newspaper, written by Donald Goodman, a native of Coleman County and CHS graduate.  These articles are reproduced here with his permission.


 
As grandchildren do ... one of grandsons asked me what television was like when I was growing up.  Since I was born in 1930, there was no commercial television when I was growing up.  That reminded me that our grandchildren, or for that matter our children, do not know what things were like in the 1930's and 1940's. 
I decided to, from time to time, write notes to my grandchildren on how things were then.  These are what I have written.

I am now 71 years of age.  These are written from memory.  Any inaccuracies are as a result of age.  I have not been back on a farm in more than 35 years.
