Oil and Other Natural Resources
COAL "Austin, January 30, 1874 - Col. John Glenn, State Geologist, has returned from a tour of the State, in which he and his party worked over about 2,000 miles of territory. His observations in regard to minerals show that Texas has been underestimated, especially in the economical depth. He displayed a fine specimen of bituminous coal, found in Coleman County."
