Something About Don
.....
"I have been in the military for 11 years now. As some of you remember, I joined right after our junior year. Right now I am in Baghdad, Iraq. I have been here since January 27, 2005. I am going to be here for a year. Since high school, I went off to basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky. I came back in September of 1994, and started working for the City of Coleman. I later join the fire department in 1997. On January 17, 1998, I married Rachel Martinez and we moved to Abilene soon after. I started working in Abilene with BFI, driving a truck. I was divorced June 2002. I have moved back to Coleman and have been there for three years. I remarried on September 24, 2004 to Dora Flores of Merkel. I rejoined the fire department in October 2002. My Unit was activated on August 15, 2004 and was stationed at Fort Hood until January 2005. I have been promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and have held the rank for over a year. To all of my old friends out there in the world ... be thankful for what you have and who you have. Life may not be perfect at times but it can't get as bad as it is here in Iraq. Thank your lucky stars for being an American and be proud of it. I hope to hear from some of you soon. Take care and God bless." (May 2005.) "Well, I am living in Coleman and married to Dora Flores of Merkel. I spent 1994 - 2004 working and traveling the country. August 2004, I got mobilized with 3rd Battalion 112th Armor Regiment out of Brownwood. We were mobilized to Fort Hood, Texas for 4 months before deploying to Iraq in January 2005. I was in Tikrit, Iraq for 3 months and then moved down to Baghdad, Iraq for the remainder of my tour. Since my return to the FREE WORLD, I am continuing my career on Active Duty as a Readiness NCO in Brownwood. I have been in the military for 12 Years and plan on retiring whenever they decide to kick me out. I would like to hear from Scott Malmstrom, Andy Phillips, Scott McGuire, Jonathan Robinson, Manuel Lugo, Ben Rudolph and anyone else that I graduated with." (September 2006.) |
