COUPLE EXCHANGE MARRIAGE VOWS IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY
Lisa Parker and Selim Burduroglu were united in marriage in Istanbul,
Turkey on September 15, 2005. The sunset service took place at Club
29 overlooking the Bosphorus Sea. The couple exchanged vows in a
double ring ceremony. Witnesses were Ismail Burduroglu and Lee Slayton,
both of Dallas, Texas.
Parents of the bride are Ray and Carol Parker of Abilene, Texas.
Parents of the groom are Akon and Belkis Burduroglu of Istanbul, Turkey.
Parents of the bride and groom greeted guests on the steps of the sea wall.
Guests came to the wedding aboard white ferries and entered the grounds
where a traditional string quartet was playing. The seawall was lined
with large urns filled with cascading geraniums and antique torches.
Giant brass candelabra surrounded the antique wedding table, which was
draped with white tulle and golden orange roses. The bride's gown
was a Pronovias design. The sleeveless bodice was enhanced with Belgian
lace and seed pearls. The chapel length train was embellished with
scalloped designs of lace and pearls. The groom wore a black daytime
tuxedo. |

Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were served by the side of
the pool before the ceremony. After the wedding ceremony, guests
were seated at round tables covered with white linen cloths and centered
with large glass hurricane lamps on antique gold bases. The lamps
were encircled with golden orange roses matching the bridal bouquet.
Favors of chocolate wrapped in white tulle, roses and satin ribbon were
scattered over the tables. A buffet dinner was served, followed by
assorted cheese, fruit and pastries. The wedding cake was a three
tiered, white confection layered with raspberries and covered with gold
roses and almonds.
Guests danced until midnight when soup and sandwiches were served and
the couple boarded a white cabin cruiser and sailed to the Black Sea.
A week of festivities preceded the wedding, beginning with a tour of Old
Istanbul for all American guests the day after arrival. On Tuesday
guests enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Bosphorus and on Wednesday evening
the groom's parents entertained with a Turkish Kebab and barbecue dinner
at their seaside home. On Friday after the wedding, guests met for
a luncheon at the Ciragan Palace, Hotel Kempinski. The couple will
reside in Dallas where the bride is employed by Elle Jewelry and the groom
is employed by Oracle.
