2004 Class Reunion 40th Anniversary Reunion September 17 - 20, 2004 - Coleman, Texas
Our CHS graduation was ONLY forty years ago. How the time flew after those school days. Fortunately a number of us were able to meet up again in 2004 to celebrate this anniversary of our graduation. The attendance was good, but not as great as it was for our 37th. The following is a list of the 39 classmates attending our 40th anniversary reunion: Bertha (Templin) Devoss, Wellington, Texas Betty (Medcalf) George, Odessa, Texas Bill McMillan, Fort Worth, Texas Billie Ann (Lewis) Crye, Coleman, Texas Bobby Hart, Mineral Wells, Texas Brenda Gilliam Pierot, Carrollton, Texas Cheryl (Baker) Erskine, Austin, Texas Darrell Hunter, Burkett, Texas Deanna (Wilkerson) Ratzow, Bowie, Maryland Della (Needham) McGuire, Irving, Texas Delmer McDorman, Brownwood, Texas Dianah (Alvey) Herrera, Angel Fire, New Mexico Donald Turner, Fulton, Texas Donnie Crye, Coleman, Texas Doug Roberts, Coleman, Texas Gary Herd, Houston, Texas Gary Horton, Cedar Park, Texas Gene Stroop, Austin, Texas Jack Horne, Coleman, Texas Jack Knox, Coleman, Texas James Lindsey, Victoria, Texas Janis Norris, Coleman, Texas Jimmy Martin, Weatherford, Texas John Devoss, Wellington, Texas Kerry Craig, Sulphur Springs, Texas LaNelle (Anderson) Morgan, Grapevine, Texas Lurlene (Morse) Mayo, Denton, Texas Lynnette (Close) Feeler, Clyde, Texas Patricia Ann (Smith) Constable, Midland, Texas Phillip Hayes, Venus, Texas Polly (Baulch) Harrison, Odessa, Texas Ronald Alvey, Euless, Texas Rondoe Smith, Stephenville, Texas Sheila (Templeton) McMillan, Fort Worth, Texas Sherry (Bolton) Mayfield, Brownwood, Texas Suzette (Swanson) Mabry, Sachse, Texas Wayne Webb, Burkett, Texas Zanda Janette (Yeatman) Hudson, Odessa, Texas Another 6 classmates registered for the reunion, but were unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances: Jack Watters, Midland, Texas
We missed them and all others that were unable to make the reunion or were not aware of the reunion. The reunion activities began with a gathering Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Hufford Field for the Homecoming Football Game vs. Hamilton. Probably no one could tell that we were not current CHS students. After the Saturday morning decorating of the Coleman Schools Cafeteria, the reunion officially got underway at 10:00 am. We had our banner outside to show the classmates where we were located. A multi-year reunion was taking place at the High School just adjacent to the Cafeteria. BBQ brisket catered by Our House Texas of Valera was served at noon and it was good food. The group class picture was at 2:00 in the school gym just outside the cafeteria. Ralph did a great job once again. Visiting and viewing of all the displays took place before and after those events. Ronald Alvey served as MC for the afternoon gathering. Discussions were held to determine the next reunion year and those to be in charge of the event. We decided to have another reunion in 5 years. Billie Ann (Lewis) Crye, Lurlene (Morse) Mayo, Ben Scott and Polly (Baulch) Harrison volunteered to make that event happen. Once again, each was asked to complete a questionnaire from which the votes would be tallied for certificates. Bertha (Templin) DeVoss and Polly (Baulch) Harrison seemed to enjoy the task of tallying the categories. Donald Turner (our CHS Senior Class President) made the following certificate presentations: Greatest Distance Traveled: Deanna
(Wilkerson) Ratzow – 1500 miles
Two special certificates were presented as follows: Lurlene (Morse) Mayo
for being the first to respond and register for each of our last two reunions.
A special thanks to ALL of those who made and furnished the delicious food and drinks and such for the Saturday evening meal. Another special thanks to Bobby Hart for the afternoon entertainment via his voice and guitar. I think there were even a few special requests fulfilled. And many thanks to Polly (Baulch) Harrison for our Homecoming signs and my beautiful homecoming mum. A silent auction was held Saturday afternoon from items furnished by some of the classmates (or their spouses). There were even some wonderful homemade items. Thanks to all of those who contributed and to those who participated. A little under $300.00 was raised from the auction to apply toward our next reunion. And thanks for buying those 40th Reunion coffee mugs as a remembrance of this event. A number of us met Sunday morning for breakfast and then on to the BK Ranch Pavilion for further visiting and reminiscing about our school days. Keep your contact information updated by contacting me or one of the volunteers for our next reunion. Della Needham McGuire
