Hey Ya’ll ..... Do you remember when the movie 2001 came out? Sure you do … we all do. We thought we wouldn’t live to be so old. Well guys, its here! 2001 and guess what … we’re not nearly as old as we thought we’d be. It has been 40 years and it time to celebrate. Mark your calendars for the last weekend in September … it’s CHS Homecoming Weekend, September 28 - 30, 2001! The Class of ’61 Reunion will kick off with a get together before the game at Hufford Field. We’ll have a big tailgate party, with sandwiches, cokes and snacks. We’ll visit, make banners and sit together during the game. Our class will be honored at half time of the football game. You don’t want to miss it! We are also taking orders for big Silk Homecoming Mums with “Class of ‘61” on it, and lots of streamers and bells. These are $21.65, including tax. We must order at least 15 to get this price. Remember when Homecoming used to be a big thing … remember the Mexican food suppers at the old Junior High School. Well, the old Junior High building burned to the ground recently, but perhaps the Class of ’61 can show the current “way too cool” generation what school spirit is all about. They will see you don’t have to be a teenager to have fun. After a wild night we’ll meet Saturday at 11:00 a. m. for lunch at Mia Familia, a great Mexican food place, 2 blocks east of Bowen’s. About 1:30 p. m. we will meet on the front steps of the old High School for a class picture. Saturday evening, we’ll meet at the Breeder Feeder building at the Rodeo grounds. Yes, I know it is not as glamorous as the Ritz, but in is part of our history, and we can get as rowdy as we want. Johnny Roberts, I hope, will furnish the music. If not, Thomas, Claude, Clyde and Leon will sing. They may sing anyway … we all remember our last reunion! Wow! We will sign in, dine together, and have a brief class business meeting. Then we will dance and stroll down memory lane together.
