"Army (1 tour Vietnam).  Journalism degree, UT-El Paso.  Newsman for: WBAP Radio/Channel 5 TV in Fort Worth, 1971 - 1979; The Associated Press to 1984.  PR/marketing for American Airlines, NationsBank, Sematech and Bozell, among others.  Now: My own consulting firm -- Stroop Communications Strategies.  Wife, Marilyn, is from West Texas.  Met: Blind date, Christmas Eve, 1966.  Married, August 19, 1967.  Kids: Jeremy, 30, fire dispatcher in Arlington; Emily, 28, corporate librarian for Charles Schwab in San Francisco.  Hobbies: Golf (mid-80s), guitar (Willie & Lyle), cooking (Cajun, French), writing (no novel yet)."  (2001.)
