RED, HOT AND EXCELLENT! REUNION 2000 COUNTDOWN!
September 10, 2000 Mini-Reunion

The DFW (and surrounding area) members of the CHS Class of 1960 came together again on Sunday, September 10 for another good time. We really missed those of you who were unable to join us.  Frances Lee and John Galey arranged for us to meet at Red, Hot and Blue on North Central Expressway in Dallas for some excellent Memphis-style barbecue and lots of good visiting. As usual, no one left without a dry and scratchy throat from non-stop talking. Thanks for the planning, Frances Lee!

There were 17 folks there - Erle and Lurlene Mayo, Frances Lee and John Galey, Peggy Parker Spruiell, Judy Ferris, Barbara and Weston Winter, Stanley Tubbs, Jerry and Oslene Smith, and Don and Mary Alice Larson.  It was a treat to welcome  Gary ('59) and Nadine (Templin '61) Ryan, Mickey Casey '59 and his guest Linda Ramirez who joined us.

Peggy shared an excellent vintage photo book which she will bring to the reunion, and several silent auction items came for preview - a wonderful bird house crafted to resemble the old CHS which Barbara commissioned for the occasion, a beautifully made "Route 66" quilted wall hanging by Oslene Smith, a very professional set of "1960 Music Favorites" CD's into which Stanley must have put hours of work.  With items like these we should do very well with the silent auction. Don't forget to put aside all your pocket change as well as your bank account to bid on the fantastic items which people are contributing.

Everyone is now pointing to the calendar and getting really excited about "Our Fabulous 40th!" Jane has reported excellent response in returned registrations for the reunion - OCTOBER 7, 2000 - in case anyone has forgotten.

Judy is still looking for a few remaining biographies - ALMOST EVERYONE has provided something for the book!!!

Mary Alice still needs some photos of you and/or/plus your family for the display at the reunion.  All will be returned. They may be sent by email or regular mail.

Our next get together in the Dallas area (due to the reunion and then the holiday season) will be in January after the snow's all gone (ha, ha!), perhaps between the end of football season and Superbowl.

Again, you don't have to live in the area to come - we have folks traveling from Oklahoma, from Weatherford, from Waco, and they think it's worth the drive to get talked-out!

The following photos were made by Weston Winter whom we may have to adopt as an honorary CHS alum because he has been so very supportive with his camera of all our efforts.  Besides he drives for Barbara!
