Charles "Chuck" Turner, 69

Charles "Chuck" Turner, of Coleman, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Hendrick Medical Center.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Santiago Udayar officiating, assisted by Deacon Beck Knox.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Charles "Chuck" Turner was born February 9, 1938 in Coleman County, the son of Jesse Manuel Turner and Claudie Iris Goree Turner.  He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School Class of 1957.  He also graduated from Howard-Payne University in 1995.  He served in the National Guard and retired from the United States Post Office after 30 years of service.  He volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes, Holy Name Society, was Ushering Eucharist Minister and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Lois McCarty and husband, Rodney, of Coleman, Lena Williams of College Station; one brother, Henry Turner and wife, Bonnie, of Abilene; three nieces, Sharon McCarty of Coleman, Kathy Fields of Kingwood, Charlotte Purl of Eustace; one nephew, Sam Williams of College Station; seven great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous step-nieces and step-nephews and special friend, Betty Rolfe, of Coleman.

He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Jim Williams.

Family visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the funeral homeMemorials may be sent to Cancer Research, Hospice of the Big Country, Coleman Food Ministries or the donor’s favorite charity.
