Vernelle Benge, 63 Services for Vernelle Benge, 63 of Lubbock, will be held on Wednesday at 2 p. m. in South Plains Church of Christ, with Ralph Beistle and Phil Collard, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Benge died on Sunday morning at her Lubbock residence. She was born on October 14, 1935 in Coleman, Texas to Walter and Fannie M. Thompson Morgan. She graduated from Coleman High School and married Charles E. Benge in Coleman, March 30, 1956. She was a former employee of J. C. Penny Co. and retired from Pitney - Bowes, after 16 years. She was a member of South Plains Church of Christ and was past president of the Host Families at Texas Tech. She had been a resident of Lubbock since moving from Big Spring in 1965. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Selicia Davis of Lubbock, Allison Benge of Arlington; one sister, Lillian Smith of Abilene; and one granddaughter, Venessa Davis; two aunts, Marvella Craig of Coleman, Evelyn Thompson of Abilene; two uncles, Bob Thompson of Coleman, and Virgil Thompson of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children's Home, American Cancer Society, or American Liver Fund. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5 to 9 p. m.
