F. Nick Taylor, 67 Mr. F. Nick Taylor, age 67 of Coleman, passed away December 15, 2003 at Abilene Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be today (Tuesday, December 16th) at 3:30 p. m. at the Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Born March 23, 1936 in
Coleman, he attended school in Coleman. After graduating from Coleman
High School in 1954, Nick attended TCU where he graduated in 1959 with
a Bachelors Degree in Business. He continued to be very active alumni,
serving on numerous committees and boards. Nick moved back to Coleman
to join Taylor Motor Company (the family business) in 1959. In 1972,
Nick took over the company and continued his devoted love for the car business
until his retirement in 1995. In 1974, Nick actively pursued a boxing
program for youngsters in Coleman County. He was president of the
club for its entire existence, during which time the club was very active,
competing in many major competitions. In 1982, Nick served as Coleman
City Councilman and became a Rotarian in 1991. In 1993, he served
as president of the Coleman Rotary Club. Nick was a member of the Coleman
Rodeo Association for over 30 years, serving as president for three years.
Three years ago, a group of concerned citizens started an organization
known as 'Keep Coleman
Survivors include his mother Virginia Taylor of Coleman; his wife, Sharlene of Coleman; one daughter, Michelle and husband Darrell Hillock of Arlington; two sons Brett Taylor of Seattle, Washington, and Michael and his wife Ranee Taylor of Coleman. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Chase, Devin, and Emily Taylor, all of Coleman. Nick is also survived by numerous other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his dad F. W. "Dink" Taylor. The family will receive friends this morning from 10 to 11:30 at the funeral home, after which the casket will be closed and not reopened.
