"Shortly after graduation I joined the U.S. Navy, serving 4 years includng a tour in Korea in 1950-1951.  Upon receiving my discharge I started working for The Southwestern States Telephone Company.  I married Ann Glasson in February 1952 and we moved to Brownwood from Coleman in 1969 where we still maintain our home.  The company later merged with General Telephone and Electronics [GTE] and I retired from GTE in 1991 after 39 years of service."  (October 2001.)
