Monday Morning Accident Kills Coleman County Man
By Billie Mercer

A two-vehicle and a trailer accident which occurred Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. approximately two miles south of Coleman, on what is commonly known as the Shield’s road, resulted in the death of a Coleman County man.  According to information released by Department of Public Safety Officer Pat Salas who worked the accident, Danny Guerrero, 38, of Coleman was south bound on Farm Road #2131, driving a 1991 Dodge Pickup while towing a welding trailer.  Approximately two miles south of Coleman, Guerrero drove onto a bridge and at that time, the trailer came loose from the pickup and traveled into the north lane where Davey Zirkle, 72, was north bound having just entered the bridge.  Zirkle was driving a 1988 two-door Subaru.  Zirkle was unable to avoid the trailer and collided with it.  Zirkle was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Coleman's Justice of the Peace Nance Campbell.  Zirkle’s body had to be freed by using the Jaws of Life.  Guerrero was not injured in the accident.  Assisting Officer Salas at the scene was the Coleman County Sheriff’s Department, Coleman County Fire Department and the Coleman County Medical EMS.
