Virgil O. Thompson, 82

Virgil O. Thompson, 82, of Lubbock, Texas went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Lubbock, Texas.  A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Green Lawn Church of Christ, with Dale Mannon and Jack Cummings officiating.  Private entombment was held at Peaceful Gardens Mausoleum.  White Funeral Home of Lubbock was in charge of arrangements.

He was born May 7, 1924 in Coleman County, Texas, a son to the late C. J. Thompson and Leona Thompson.  He attended school in Coleman and was a graduate of Coleman High School.  He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  Virgil and Geneva Brown were united in marriage on March 24, 1946 in Abilene, Texas.  Virgil taught Sunday school classes, served as a deacon and elder at Parkway Drive Church of Christ.  He was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ.  He had worked as an accounting clerk at Nunn Electric Supply Corporation for many years and also in maintenance at Green Lawn Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geneva, of Lubbock; four sons: Galan, Terry, Michael and Warren Thompson, all of Lubbock; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister, Marvella Craig of Abilene.
