Mrs. Doyle (Ruth) Glasson, age 72, of Coleman died Thursday evening, August 4, 1994 at her home following a lengthy illness. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church of Coleman with Rev. Gary Boyd and Rev. Bill Merritt officiating. Burial followed in Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. She lay in state at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman from Friday night until noon Sunday. She was born January 9, 1922 in Coleman, the daughter of the late E. C. and Lettie Jameson. She attended schools at Coleman and later graduated from Draughn’s Business College. On March 14, 1942, she married Luther Doyle Glasson in Coleman. She was an owner, with her husband, of Glasson Transfer and Storage, The Bargain House Furniture, Glasson Quality Storage Units, and had formerly operated the Bed and Bath Shop in Coleman. She and her husband were also part owners of Heartland Funeral Home. Mrs. Glasson was a lifelong resident of Coleman and a member of First Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher for over 43 years and was a member of the Auditorium Class. Survivors include her husband, Doyle of Coleman; two sons, Billy Glasson of Hurst and Larry Doyle Glasson of Andrews; one daughter, Amy Doris Hinds of Coleman; one brother, Robert Jameson of Coleman; two sisters, Oleta Elliott of DeSoto and Pearl Horne of Coleman; a special friend, Shame Rees, who was a foreign exchange student from Australia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be sent to the Auditorium Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
