Something about Billy .....
Notes from Ralph Terry ... Billy
Rutherford is shown on the graduating list of the CHS Class of 1940 in
the CHS "Round-Up." The family of Vernon O. and Addie Rutherford
is shown in the 1930 census of Coleman County, living on North Blanco
Street in Coleman. In the family at this time, other than Vernon
and Addie are William, age 8 and Lucy, age 7. Oscar V. (died
1966) and Addie E. (died 1966) are buried at the Coleman
Cemetery. As both Billy and Pete had a sister, Lucy, I have
assumed these two men are the same.
William
F. (Pete) Rutherford age 85 of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Tuesday,
February 27, 2007 at 2:57 p.m. at the Coleman County Medical Center
following an automobile accident. Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m.
at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Hess and Rev. John
Stanislaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Anna
Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
The family will receive friends at Henderson Funeral Home Thursday from
6 until 7 p.m. Pete
was born July 3, 1921 in Coleman County to the late Oscar Vernon and
Addie Edna Anderson Rutherford. He attended the Anderson Schools and
graduated from Coleman High School. On February 18, 1942 Pete married
Winnie Alice Tucker in Santa Anna and they celebrated fifty-nine years
of marriage. Winnie preceded him in death in 2001. He served his
country with the Army during World War II. Pete was a lifetime
resident of Coleman County and member of the First Baptist Church of
Santa Anna 60 years where he served as a Deacon. Pete worked as a
caterpillar operator with Santa Anna Silica Sand for 20 years and
retired in 1985 from 3 M Corporation of Brownwood. Survivors
