Rheba Caskey McKinney, age 87 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Forest Hills Health Care Center in Broken Arrow. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman, Texas, with Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery, in Santa Anna, Texas under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Rheba Christine Caskey on January 26, 1918 in Lampasas County, Texas, the daughter of Frank Caskey and Ada Hammet Caskey. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She married Walter McKinney on June 20, 1941 in San Antonio. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1985. Mrs. McKinney was a published poet, and past president of the San Antonio Poet¹s Association. While living near The Woodlands, she wrote columns for "M" Magazine, and a local newspaper. Her mother, Ada Hammet Caskey was a lifelong resident of Coleman. Forrest and Neda Caskey, brother and sister-in-law were original and longtime owners of Caskey Florist in Coleman. She is survived by one daughter Janice and her husband G. E. (Gene) Hunt, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Charles Ty Hunt of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Gina McKeever, of Converse, Texas, Denae Seamans of Comfort, Texas and great-grandchildren, Charles Joseph (Joey) Hunt, Casey and Kyle McKeever, Christopher Hunt, Courtnie and Garrett Seamans; a niece, Pat Bailey of Grape Creek,Texas and a nephew, Bill Street of Odessa, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McKinney, in 1984; a sister, Etioile Street and one brother, Forrest Caskey.
