Edna Sayles, 75

Edna LeMay Cathey Sayles, age 75, of Houston, died Monday, January 24, 1994 at the Texas Medical Center in Houston.  Services are Thursday, January 27 at 10 a.m. at Walker Funeral Chapel in Coleman.  The Rev. Jeff Robinett, pastor of Shared Life Ministry, First Christian and Presbyterian Church will officiate.  Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Born April 1, 1918, in Fisk, Texas, she was the daughter of William Byron and Meithal LeMay Cathey.  She attended Coleman High School and Business College in Dallas.  She lived her early life in Coleman until 1936, when she moved to Abilene and later to Midland.  She married Henry Linn Sayles on October 23, 1948.  She worked for the County of Midland and was a member of the First Christian Church.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Cathey.

Survivors include two daughter and a son-in-law, Cathey and Dr. Joe Gillespie of Stephenville, and Carol Sayles of Houston; three sisters, Jo Ann King of Brenham; Mary Emma Taylor and Buena Pool, both of Coleman; one brother, Bill Cathey of Midland; two grandchildren, Joseph Gillespie and wife Jodi of San Angelo, and Jeanifer Lynn Gillespie of Stephenville.

Pallbearers were Billy Dan Cathey, Jow W. Gillespie, Joseph Gillespie, John C. King, Mike King, Anton Matejek, Mac Sayles and Bobby Sayles.  Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehab Center of Abilene or to the Hospice of Texas Medical Center in Houston.
