Funeral services for Gerald W. Ragsdale, 88, of Brownwood will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Chapel of Heartland Funeral Home in Early with Bo Shero officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Mr. Ragsdale passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2004 in Brownwood. He was born on July 18, 1916, in Coleman, the son of James E. Ragsdale and Charlsey A. Wester Ragsdale. He was reared and attended school in Coleman and on June 14, 1941, he married Imogene Conway. Mr. Ragsdale was a veteran of the United States Army and had served in World War II as a Company Clerk with the 309th Combat Engineers, 84th Infantry Division, achieving the rank of TEC 4. He had lived in Brownwood since 1970, moving there from Coleman. He had previously been employed as store manager for M System Food Store in Coleman and as freight manager at TG&Y in Brownwood. He was a former member and Deacon of the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman. Survivors include three daughters: Geraldine Goetz, Imogene Miller and Rena Renfroe, all of Brownwood; one brother, Frank Ragsdale of Beaumont; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Charlsey Ragsdale; his wife, Imogene Ragsdale; and one brother, Ross Ragsdale.
