Lester Erie Patton Miller, 100 Lester Erie Patton Miller died at the age of 100 on January 18, 1996 in Houston, Texas. Services were January 23, conducted by First Methodist Church of Houston and burial was in Forest Park Cemetery Lawndale under the direction of George H. Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Coleman County Senior Citizens Foundation, 316 S. Pecos, Coleman, Texas 76834. She was born December 6, 1895, the youngest child of George and Susan Pickard Patton, in Waxahachie, Texas. The family moved to Coleman, Texas in December of 1904 to join their friends, the Ransbergers, and settled in the Fisk area. Mrs. Miller attended the original Brown Ranch School, then earned her diploma from Coleman High School in 1914 and went to Howard Payne College. Following the example of her older sister, Belle Patton, she gained her teacher’s certificate and returned to teach at Brown Ranch School and others. On a visit to Houston in 1920, she applied for a job and later married a local druggist, Murray W. Miller and owned a drug store there. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Miller McKallip of Houston; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; by two infant sons; her sister, Belle Patton; and brothers, Harvey Patton, Henry Patton, Burch R. Patton and Omar P. Patton, all formerly of Coleman.
