Half Century Mark Offers Celebration For Coleman
Exes
This year marks the semi-centennial anniversay of the first graduating
class of C. H. S. Yes, just fifty years ago five members stepped
proudly forward to receive their diplomas, which were presented to them
by A. B. Hamilton, who acted as superintendent and principal combined.
These five members of the graduating class of 1893 - 94 were all girls:
Misses Wood Murray, Minnie Williams, Anna Bradburn, George Bowen, and Florence
Dibrell. Their present residence are respectively: Lubbock, Dallas,
Amarillo, Dallas, and Coleman.
Miss George Bowen is now Mrs. Claude Gaugh and is the aunt of Robert
Bowen, former resident of Coleman prior to entering the armed services.
Misses Wood Murray, Minnie Williams and Anna Bradburn are all housewives
now. Miss Florence Debrell remains in Coleman and is very active
in the P. T. A. work in the school from which she graduated half a century
ago. There are indefinite plans contemplating a class reunion at
the Commencement of the present graduating class of 1943 - 44. ("The
Round-Up" school newspaper, April 17, 1944.) |
