GIPSON CEMETERY, COLEMAN COUNTY, TEXAS
The Gipson Cemetery is one mile southeast of Silver Valley in a pasture. It is somewhat overgrown with little or no fence. There could be other graves, which are unmarked.
Survey maps show the
cemetery to
be on what was originally James Gipson land. The young
Gipson children
were probably his. Franklin and Martha Gipson came to Silver
Valley
in 1888, but the relationship between James and Franklin Gipson is
not
known to the authors. This cemetery is now located on the
Hal and
David Hughes ranch, but in the past was in the southwest corner of
the
Mose Thompson place and the southeast corner of the Lollar place.
