New officers were elected, which are as follows: President, CAROL EDWARDS Vice-President, KAY JAMESON Treasurer, BRENDA HENDERSON Secretary, DONNA RAMSEY Reporter, NONA RAMSEY Leaders of these girls are Mrs. MARIE JAMESON and Mrs. JANIE HENDERSON. Mrs. Jameson read to them about the World Association Pin and what it means. Now they are eligible for their pins. After refresh- ments were served by Carol Edwards, the meeting adjourned. NONA RAMSEY, Reporter. ************************************************************************ TEXAS NATURAL CAMP Employees of Texas Natural Gasoline Corp. have been interested in the merger of their company with Union Oil & Gas Co. of Louisiana. The new firm is to be known as Union Texas Natural Gas when the merger becomes effective on March 3. No changes in operations or personnel are expected. Headquarters of Texas Natural have been at Tulsa, Union is a Houston Company. TRUMAN HINES was honored with a birthday party at his home Friday night. Others came in for a covered dish supper and also helped observe the birthdays of BETTY HODGE and NANCY GREEN. TOMMY HENDRY's birthday was celebrated Friday afternoon with a party given by his mother, Mrs. M. C. HENDRY. ADDISON DAVIS of Robert Lee has been employed as a roustabout by Texas Natural. He began work the first of last week. JIM YBARRA, who had been off work nearly a year with a broken leg, was just about ready to return to his job here in January when he broke the leg a second time. He is convalescing at his home in Robert Lee. ALLEN ROWALDT, roustabout, remains at his home in San Angelo. He injured some fingers while at work on a winch truck. ************************************************************************ The new residence in Perkins-Prothro camp was completed in six weeks and PAUL BURNS and his family moved in the last of January. It replaces the house and most of its contents destroyed by fire early in the winter. Mr. Burns, a P-P pumper, and his family have been living in a teacherage of Silver. The residence was built on contract by Brown Lumber and Supply of Robert Lee. They sublet the labor contract to Capps & Casey. Perkins-Prothro have completed a new 4,500-ft. water well two miles down the Colorado River. A pump has been installed but a test cannot be made until an electric line is brought in. The company will use the additional water supply for a water flooding project. They are now pumping water into seven wells and have six more to be flooded. Silver Indians football boys and members of the girls pep squad will be honored with a banquet Saturday night at Luby's downtown cafeteria in San Angelo. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. and the group will later attend a movie at Texas theatre. School buses will be used to carry the youngsters to the city. Mr. and Mrs. FRANK MULLIGAN, JR. and son, BILLY LIN, came from Lubbock for a visit over night Friday in the parental home of Mr. and Mrs. FRANK MULLIGAN. Mrs. ROY WALKER has been helping DOUG WAID in the Sun Grocery while the owner, VAUGHAN DAVIS, took his family to Alabama to visit Mrs. Davis' parents. Sun production employees reported on the sick list Monday were F. S. WYCOFF, J. W. SERVICE, JR., O. F. BRADHAM and DELBERT SHOEMAKER. D. W. ALBRIGHT of the clerical staff is on vacation this week. He and his family will visit in Dallas and Tyler. JIM DAVIDSON, plant engineer at Sun's gasoline plant at LaVerne, Okla., visited Jameson plant here the first of the week. ORVILLE LEE WHITE underwent a gall bladder operation last Tuesday in the Colorado City hospital. He is making a good recovery. BOB EDWARDs, Jameson plant chief clerk, is driving a new Ford Falcon. MAURICE DUNCAN, operator of Jameson plant, was off duty a few days last week because of the flu. Pupils of the sixth grade enjoyed a Valentine Party Thursday night at Sun Rec Hall. Ten pupils and eight mothers were present. Sponsors of the affair were DON GRESSETT, teacher, and his wife. WAYNE REED returned Friday night from a trip to Sikeston, Mo. While there he helped make arrangements for his mother to enter a rest home. L. K. MCKINNON was treated for a minor eye infection over the weekend. JOHNNY, 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. FRED THEIS, underwent a knee operation Friday at the Colorado City hospital. He is a sopho- more at the Colorado City high school. He injured his right knee play- ing junior high football at Silver and hurt it again a few weeks ago. Surgeons removed some of the cartiladge. He is expected to return to his home here the middle of the week. County Auditor WELDON FIKES spoke at the PTA meeting here Monday night. His subject was "Must Legislative Action be Seasonal?" ************************************************************************ SILVER NINTH GRADERS PASS DRIVING TESTS All members of the Driver Training Class of the Silver public school have completed their tests and been given driver licenses. They took written exams in Robert Lee a few weeks ago and last week went to San Angelo where they were given the driving tests. Everyone passed. Prin. GUY WHEELER is the instructor and is gratified at the fine showing made by his pupils. The class is made up of the entire 9th grade class of 14 students.
