Personals: Assorted News June 22, 1951 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Sep 2013 ************************************************************************** The Bronte Enterprise Bronte, Texas June 22, 1951 ASSORTED NEWS Caperton Chevrolet Co., this week delivered a new pickup to D. K. Glenn and new Chevrolet passenger cars to Leslie Wollard and Mrs. Bob Odom of Silver. Mr. and Mrs. J. Madera of Corpus Christi have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Morrow this week. The Morrows and Maderas are leaving Saturday for a two week vacation to Colorado Springs and Yellowstone National Park and other points of interest in that part of the country. Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Pittman returned this week from a vacation trip to San Antonio and Liberty. They visited their son, Dwain, and family in San Antonio and their son, Archie, and family in Liberty. Dan Blue is now working at a food store in Rankin. He will work there through the summer. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Manley moved from Tennyson to Bronte Monday. They are living in the Dan Johnson home in the southwest part of town. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Stanley of Bangs visited their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stanley, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDonald went to San Angelo on Tuesday. H. L. Manley attended a meeting of the Concho Guild in San Angelo Wednesday night. It is a chapter of the Texas Watchmakers association. Relatives from Casper, Wyoming spent Sunday night in the home of his cousin, Will R. Stephenson and family of Bronte. He is also a cousin of Marshall Stephenson and Miss Lottie Ivey. H. L. Manley was recently awarded a certificate as a registered chronograph watch technician. This declares him qualified to repair complicated Swiss and American watches. Pfc. Warren Beaver recently wrote his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Beaver, he was aboard ship bound for San Francisco and then on to the Pacific. He also said that he would probably go to Japan. Warren recently spent a furlough at home and reported to Seattle, Washington where he boarded his ship. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Caperton have gone to Garner State park near Uvalde this week for a few days rest and vacation. They left Tuesday morning. **************************** VISIT ON FATHER'S DAY Those visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDonald, Sr. on father's Day were Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Rawlings, Mrs. A. J. Rawlings, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. McDonald of San Angelo, Joe Rawlings and Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDonald, Jr., Jo Alice and Freddie of Robert Lee. All of the children of Mr. and Mrs. McDonald were present except W. D. McDonald, who is in a San Angelo hospital. ***************************** LOCAL MAN ATTENDS REUNION Robert Stanley of Bronte was one of the 53 members of the 1082nd Guard Squadron Group who met for their first annual reunion last Saturday night in San Angelo. The reunion was held at the Lions Club house on Lake Nasworthy. Smoked turkey and barbecued goat were served to those gathered for the reunion. Stanley said the group had not been together for seven years. The squadron was organized at Concho Field in San Angelo during World War II and was active for 18 months. ****************************** LARGE GROUP CELEBRATES IN JOHN CLARK HOME Father's Day and birthdays wee the occasion which prompted a large gathering in the John Clark home Sunday. Aside from the Father's who were honored several had birthdays near the date. Celebrating birthdays were Mrs. Mary Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tucker, Duane Tucker and Sammy, Donna, Penny, Clifford and Harold Garrett, Rodney and Debby Tucker and the John Clark family. Also visiting at the home during the afternoon were Mrs. Rufus Alley, Ro Gene and Tommy and Mrs. W. M. Alexander from San Angelo, Mr. and Mrs. Travis McCarty, J. A. and Woodrow Howell, J. A. Cox and Lloyd Brown. ***************************** HAYRICK HD CLUB MEETS IN FLETCHER HOME Six members and two children where present for the meeting of the Hayrick H. D. club Thursday, June 14, in the home of Mrs. Fletcher. Mrs. Aubrey Denman conducted the business meeting in the absent of the president Mrs. B. W. Waldrop. Gladys Waldrop gave the demonstration on making straw hand bags. The next meeting will be with Mrs. J. W.
